Latest rendition of new McLaren

Quote:
With rumors circulating about a successor to the McLaren F1, we bring you a new artist's rendition of a new mid-engine McLaren. The word on the street is that McLaren is building a new, two-seater workhorse with a V8 engine, scheduled for 2010 production.

The original McLaren F1 supercar took to the streets back in 1993, to forever be drooled over by legions of car fans everywhere. Their new car, which may have spawned from prior development work from their now defunct partnership with Mercedes-Benz, is supposed to be of a smaller and more lightweight construction.

Memories of the McLaren F1 V12 abound: it went 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, topped out around 386 km/h (240 mph), and reighned supreme above all supercars for over a decade. It seems McLaren would need some sort of miracle, or divine inspiration, to build such a legend a second time around.

Any new McLaren would be in competition with the Bugatti Veyron, and potential Ferrari Enzo and Lamborghini Murcielago replacements. Hopefully, this new McLaren will have the driver-in-the-middle three-seat design the F1 is known for. WCF will of course keep watch over this story, and bring you any news on the new McLaren as it arises.

omebadgoat ur avatar is always awesome....

yeah for the new mclaren to have just a v8 it better be light as hell to be able to do those nasty top speed runs again. im talking lotus elise weight style...

remember yall, thats an artists rendition....not a mclaren artist, or anything like that, just some guy drawin a car....dont get too hung on the design. i saw an "artist's rendition" of the hyundai tiburon replacement and it was borderline 'sell rx8 for hyundai' terrortory but then i saw the concept shots of it at some car show recently and its meh....

There are aspects..i'd call it more of a CCX/R8/Gallardo mixture than anything.

Love the stance though.

Gimme an hour with photoshop and I can get rid of that watermark, If you want to use it as a background or something.

Somehow I missed this. Nice find.

There was an article in ‘CAR’ magazine a year ago about the successor to the F1, however, it didn’t look nearly as good as the photo pictured here. I just wonder if McLaren can re-capture magic in a bottle without Gordon Murray.
