General Warning: Never spill 75w90 gear oil on yourself

Just a general warning---I was changing the rear differential oil in an s2000 yesterday, dropped the open bottle it hit the ground and splashed all over me. Now if you have never smelled redline 75w90ns, it smells like rotten eggs. I figured I would just throw my clothes in the washer- BAD IDEA. Now my washing machine and my entire house smell like 75w90 and the clothes smell no better than they did before. I think I am probably going to have to throw them away.

yeah and your washer/dryer might be coated in a thin layer of oil that will take hours to clean out. Dont ask me how i know.

I actually had a coating of it on the sides and had to use bleach cleaner and paper towels to wipe it out.

Try just a load of bleach, and laundry detergent. Bleach takes the smell out of this stuff we have at work called sour water. Worst smell ever, next to rotten roadkill.

i never got gear oil all over me yet, but i have gotten coolant in my mouth and all over my face once. It happened during turbo replacement, coolant came flowing out when the line came uncrimped and spewed all over me....GROSS

It tastes worse than it smells.

I've thrown out a couple pairs of Mechanix gloves because of gear oil.

I always have clothing just for the garage which doesn't get washed, it gets thrown out. Goodwill fashion all the way.

Uggh, i just did the rear oil in my duster a little while ago.
30 year old gear oil is quite the unpleasant smell.
