Question

Well this is the 1st time I've posted in here...(I think lol) but I decided to just to here what an actual officer has to say.

I got pulled over in NJ. The cop hit me with radar as a passed another car. It took him quite some time to turn around (the grass medium was huge). I was approaching a circle.

By the time he got through the grass, I had already went around the circle. After the circle it turns into 3 lanes each way. So I pulled over into a small Boston Market parking lot....directly off the last lane.

I shut my car off, rolled down my windows, and had all my information out and waiting for him.

He came flying in literally about 45secs to a min later (remember he got stuck trying to turn around). So he pulls in, hops out and says "I'm not ****ing impressed".
I told him "I'm sorry I'm not following" and he went on this rant of how I'm lucky he doesn't put me in the back of his car and have my car towed...he said I was trying to allude him. I told him I was just trying to pull off of a 3 lane highway to be safe.
He told me it was bull**** and he didn't want to hear it. I said ok.

He came back after awhile and he wrote me 4 tickets. Speeding...ok fine he caught me passing someone...but then he wrote me careless and failure to signal lane change (He says that I flew around the circle and that I didn't blinker when I pulled into the parking lot) He wasn't even into the circle yet (remember he had trouble turning around) so there was no way for him to see if I blinkered or not.

Finally he gave me a no insurance ticket (which I did show him and it is valid). It was a copy they had faxed to me, cuz I didn't get the actual ones in the mail.

At the end...he makes me get out of the car and look at his radar and what it was locked at. What it was locked at and what he wrote me the ticket for were two different speeds. But I didn't realize that til after I left and looked at the ticket.

Before I left, he also told me that I better not try to fight it in court because he will win and how he calibrates his radar every 3 stops and how I was his 1st stop for that day.

Advice? (sorry so long)

First off I don't like the tone the officer took with you...since you didn't say how long ago this was I'm guessing this was resently. what you need to do is get a lawyer and go to court to fight the summons also you should report this officer to his supervisor. If it happened as you say it did it should be brought to the attention of the police department. this said some of the smaller agencies in NJ live and die by traffic summons so you may hit a wall when you go in to report this if so and you feel you need to take it further you can report it to the County Prosecutors office
