you should read it a little better next time. that guy is taking a stock header and porting/polishing it. Your after market hotshot will already have the ideal flow characteristics (most likely) and needs not to have other alterations done to it. As for passing inspection, that really just has to do with the cats in your setup. I dont know how efficient the main cat in your car is but in NJ you can usually get away with removing the pre cat (usually in the header) and be fine

well i understand thats for a stock header.. im not that incompetant, but the header im buying is used so it may need to be cleaned up and i read people port new headers too. just because its aftermarket doesnt make it perfect.

the way i look at it, if you need to port an aftermarket header, you should just get a different header. as for cleaning it up, as stated just get it ceramic coated or heat wrap it, or my personal choice is send it out to get a heat coating. That will help keep engine bay temps down plus it puts a nice finish on it.

Yes you can port and polish the stock exhaust header that way no one knows whats up, i do them all the time, for clients. You can go the route of having it sent out to swaintech for ceramic coatings but its gets might expensive.
email me if you still want to get it done. |
