u can drop and ecotec in it, its a straight forward swap. see 16.8 turn into easy low 15, with just the motor swap and the 5spd tranny. airfow mods set of nice tires, and decent track conditions; 14s wouldnt be out of the question. then u could drop in the eaton m62, parts are direct swap from a cobalt ss s/c or redline, or just buy the kit directly from gm.

I dunno I am toying with the idea of trading this in on a SVT focus if one comes along and trying to clone a Focus RS.

RS8 V8 Swap for the win! Put the 4.6L Aluminum Cobra Engine in and call it a day.

The original Focus RS was a 4 cylinder turbo. Used the same chassis as our current Foci. They said it was a duratec, but in reality it was a turbo Zetec with the SVT Focus Bottom End.

You are correct though. The MKII Chassis used in Europe does have a Volvo 5 cylinder AWD turbo configuration. That is designated the ST. Ford rumored and did some research on making a 300whp AWD Focus, but said the project would not be cost effective. 2 Reasons for this. One, they cant make a Focus faster than a mustang here in the states. Would cause total flamage from non Focus Owners. Two, not many people would by what would be a near $30,000 Focus except for me lol.

They do plan on setting something up for here in the states since their "Way Forward Plan" involves using universal chassis. By 2010, Focus will share the same platform as either the C30 Volvo or the Mazda3.

That will cost you damn near a couple thousand alone. Those 8" wide RS wheels are expensive as hell, not to mention the wider fenders and quarters panels.

I do recommend the SVT Focus....not fast....but loads of fun. Its kinda wierd how it works out that way, but between the gearbox and the suspension, its a good bundle.

Yeah, I dunno what I am gonna do. This car is over half way paid for so thats a plus in itself. I don't know wether I want another payment or not. The SVT focus is kinda hard to come by here in delaware as well.
