Should I bring my car to Philly?

I finally got my baby running, so I figured that I'll bring it with me to school in Philly (Drexel = West Philly). Its a 91 rx7 turbo, so it's kind of rare, but its not flashy or anything. My mom thinks its gonna get stolen.

I see some cars that are nicer than mine parked there all the time, I figure if I throw a club on the wheel or something it should keep the casual burglars away.
Any insights?

Are you willing to walk out and have it not be there?

Who would be? I never wake up expecting the worst.

I also have no use for a car, but it took so long to get together, it makes me sad.

a club will just attract them i think......i wouldnt drive the car...it might get stolen it might not i wouldnt take the chance...thats why im either going back to stock or sleeper mode(given that this turbo setup goes smoothly)or just get a different car cause i dont wana take the chance

Drexel is not in the heart of West Philadelphia. And West Philadelphia is not notorious for stolen cars like say, North East Philly.

You can walk to everything if you’re on Drexel’s campus (Center City, Penns Landing, etc.) But if you bring it, your car will be fine. One of our members from awhile back parked his STi out there everyday, and another of our current members parks his Evo there everyday. (I don’t worry when I’m around there.)

The times when you’ve really got to watch your $#!t is in the North East.

I agree. I graduated from Drexel and I always brought my cars to school and never once had a problem. If you are living on campus try to get a permit for one of the lots, and if not, park it on the street outside the dorms. You won't have any trouble.

If you want peace of mind, put a kill switch on the car, or if you are going to park it for a while, pull the fuel pump relay out of the fuse box.

I'd be sad leaving my car. You have something special as *uck there man. If you do bring it. It is very, very imperative you rock the NRG hub and get the lock that goes over it when the steering wheel is gone. 247motoring.com has them

P.S. Sorry if I'm not allowed to post other car sites because of our sponsors here. I'll delete it if necissary.

Door dong threat is all over though. The drivers in Philly don't seem that bad actually.

I just moved to a new apartment that is practically on campus and it seems really safe. My old apartment was in a way worse spot, and none of our cars ever got broken into (junky cars though). Hmm, I'll see if I can secure a driveway spot.

itd be real funny if u just eliminated its ability for spark. all i gotta do is pull the ESP sensor and itll crank all day and do nothing. pullin that sensor kills fuel too but if u really wanna be a dick to em.....

cut spark only so when they go to start it, it floods ....99% of americans wont kno what the hell they just did! hahaha!

I don't know to much about the area your moving to, but I do know you have to watch your car in the Northeast. My car was stolen there a few years back.

I would definetly install a fuel cut switch, pull some fuses if your going to be leaving your car for any long period of time and change the area where you park the car.
