Help?

Well my dad was using the D1x and somehow the "focus screen" fell out or something, it's just supposed to fold back, but it's completely missing, I don't know how it could have fell out, because he didn't even touch it, he just swiched lenses, and he said he couldn't see anything through it, so he took the lense back off and the screen was gone, he doesn't know if it fell out or not cause he didn't see it on the floor? So idk? Any advice, cause our only other option is to buy a new camera.

I could also use some seggustions on a new camera, must be a nikon though, cause that's what all our lenses are for.

I didn't even know Nikon used focus screens

Search around online for one
If not, get a D200

i would recommend taking the camera to an authorized repair center near you to have them look at it and see what they say. make sure it goes to an authorized repair center though, not just the local camera store.

info on nikon service in general is here: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php...to=inc_service

and a pdf file of all authorized repair centers is here:
http://www.nikonusa.com/fileuploads/...epair_list.pdf

if its just the focusing screen (the opaque screen that sits horizontally to the ground above the mirror) then it shouldnt be too expensive of a repair, but you should have them look things over to see if there are any other issues related to it.

just whatever you do, dont try to fix it yourself. good luck!
