Leasing a WRX?

Hey everyone, I need to purchase a car sometime before college (commuting) and have been throwing around the idea of leasing a wrx. Has anyone here leased one or does anyone even think its a good idea? I know with the lease i wont be able to change anything, which is lame, but it will also help me get more gas mileage and such. Would anyone suggest leasing a wrx? or would I just be better off buying something used? What are your thoughts? Also if getting one isnt such a good idea, what is something else to look into?

Thanks.

Owning a WRX is more fun than leasing one.

if i was commuting to college itd get somethin good on gas, ie not a wrx....read VW golf, honda fit, nissan versa etc etc etc , ....but o well, here goes

if u wanna be crazy technical, and i always do, u can mod leased cars as long as u turn it back to them in oem shape....take all the junk off before u give it back and u should be set....so much as advice on leasing, i dont rec. leasing a wrx, or anycar for that matter, u spend a lil less each month just to hand it back and be left with nothing. why spend 250 a month on a car and be carless and broke in 3 years when u can spend 350 on the same car and OWN it in three years. and ppl say, well i can only afford 250 a month and i wanta wrx, well fine lease it, its ur money and no one has any right to tell u what to do with it, but im willing to share my advice on past experiences with myself, and my idiot friends.....if u cant afford to own the dream car, down grade and own something else, when u finish school u can sell the car and with ur new career u can afford to buy the car u REALLY want. instead of leasing the car u really want, struggling thru college just to give it back when u finish school and need to save up AGAIN for something else when in 3 yrs ull wish u bought it bc u still love it....then u can opt to buy out of the lease and own it, but then ull take an ass rape from the dealer......

owning a car has to be the least economically smart thing to do but its far worse to LEASE that mistake....but people lease cars by the truck loads so what the hell do i kno?

Buy an older corolla, civic, sentra. Cheap, good on gas and little to no car payment to worry about. I'd focus more on doing school work and having fun in college than having to work all the time just to have a nice car.

It's funny you mention not modding the WRX would give you better gas mileage, most people end up noticing an INCREASE in gas mileage after they've modded theirs. I get a steady 22mpg mostly city driving and 28mpg highway and I'm definitely not stock.

But yeah, don't lease any car, if you need a commuter car for college get something cheap and disposable like a used Corolla or Prizm or something that you won't have monthly payments on and won't care if it gets dinged in a parking lot (because most college lots are death for nice cars).
