Windshield Wash

Alright so ive heard mixed reviews.

I read the how to detail your car thread and saw that some people swear by Stoner Invisible Glass so i grabbed some from the nearest automart store, some newspaper and went to town on each window on my car...applying about 2-3 coats of it. it looked amazing and then i tested out my windshield washer fluid to see if it stuck. it didn't exactly stick but it wasnt what i was hoping for.

now to the question at hand.

what is another great product to use to have water or washer fluid bead off of your windshield. ive tried rain-x and they work like a charm but ive heard some bad reviews about eating away at your windshield wiper blades

i have never had a problem with rain x, besides the fact it can be a pain in the ass to use. i usually replace my windshield wipers once a year anyway.

Yep rain x seems to be the best for beading water off. Its most manufactors (sp?) reccomendation (sp? again) to replace wipers every 6 months I believe.

Use Aquapel. It is more expensive but is a lot better than Rain-X.

Also, Aquapel is made by PPG Industries, so you may see a PPG packaged product instead... same stuff

I use a clay bar on my windshield religiously. This is the same principal as claying your paint. It removes the surface contaminants and leaves your glass much smoother.

Personally, if I were you, clay it, clean it w/ stoners and a microfiber glass towel, then rainx it. I think you'll be happy

I should mention another item. Spray n wipe. Heres what one of my customers wrote about in a thread about it.

If you want a package deal, I'll set you up w/ the clay, glass towels and spray n wipe. Lemme know.

"-Spray & Wipe - waterless wash - This stuff is great. My favorite use for it is glass. I haven't found anything out there that works better then this. Water beads right off. I don't even really need my windshield wipers depending on how hard its raining. It also works incredibly well on the rest of my truck too."

Heres the thread if you need it:

hit your windows with spray wax, i know people do that alot.

i usually clean my windows with that aresol spray by Eagle One, less mess than windex and it wipes with no streaks

i personally have a window restoration kit that i used to get rid of water spots... it worked amazingly, came with glass clay and lubricant, also came with glass sealer that worked really well... i should probably do it again soon (clay the glass) because i put alot of miles on my car in not so perfect conditions... i also use stoners in between coats... it works pretty well... i have NEVER been 100% convinced by any glass cleaners without using the proper applicator (microfiber glass cloths or newspaper)

I just wash the car, and use window spray... does the job just fine. Use some elbow grease.

I used Rain-X, but it didn't really last that long and in a heavy rain you're screwed without good blades. I'm probably going to get the Rain-X wiper blades, I saw them in a commercial and they seem to work really well.
