Kinda what I was thinking.

Any thoughts on what spring to get?

I had a 1 bar (14.7 Psi) spring in my 44mm wastegate and it was WAAAAY to much. luckily the 44mm uses a .7 & a .3 bar spring together to make up the 1 bar so we removed one of the springs. your stock wategate has a natural opening around 7psi if im not mistaken, so i would tell you to get a spring around there. depending on what levels of boost you are going to run, that wil tell you what spring to get. now that i have the .7 bar spring, im able to use a MBC and adjust boost accordingly.

Good info Derf. I'm not sure how much adjustment a MBC could do.

I'm thinking maybe a .7 bar as well.

no problem.

but yeah, everyone told me to gat a 1 bar spring as well. what i didnt think of is that the spring weight you get will be the LOWEST level of boost you will be able to run. with the .7 spring, you have room to adjust.

i sometimes wish i went even lower to a .6 or .5 spring. but my .7 is working well enough not to bother with it.

wondering what your reasoning for going to an ewg is... and did you ever get your engine management thing figured out? it'd be much more ideal to ditch the mbc and tune your boost through your engine management, imo.

I did troll, and to that effect ill be either getting a cobb pro-tune or switching to an EcuTek in the VERY near future. with either one, ill be using an upgraded boost control solenoid to control boost levels from the ecu, NOT an MBC. but in the meantime till I get to the dyno, the MBC will work just fine.

back to our regularly scheduled thread.

I'm not sure why you'd want to run lower than 1 bar. I had a 1-bar spring and never had any issues.

I'm just wondering some things. Thinking, figuring things out.

I'm going to put my front mount on and figure out my EM situation. Looks like Andy's new shop won't be up and running till the beginning of may which will give me time to get my front mount and put it in.

Generally speaking most people tend to run a .8 or 1lb spring with good results. I 'll be getting my 38MM tial with UR up pipe installed once I get enough scratch together to pickup a turbo.
