So who brews their own beer?

I want to start. I just bought two highly-rated books on it from Amazon, waiting for them to come. There's also that homebrew supply place on Bustleton Pike in Southampton I saw the last time I was home. I may have to check them out.

Any advice from people who have done it/do it currently?

I've never done my own beer but I have done the homemade wine with my girlfriends father. Also have done hard cider, it's not too tough to do any of it. Just make sure you keep the fermenter in an area that's easy to clean up hahaha.

The place I was refering to is in between Street and County Line Roads on Bustleton Pike in Southampton, on the west side of the street, just south of the bridge over the Turnpike. I've never been there, I'm definitely going to check it out though.

your best bet is to go to a homebrew shop and talk with the owner. he will be able to set you up with everything you need.

if you really just want to order a kit, i think the best one on the market is the Delux Starter System from www.morebeer.com. it is $100 and comes with just about everything you need to start brewing, minus the ingredient kit, a brew kettle, and bottles to put your batch in.

if you really want to start brewing, you should do a little research beforehand so you don't look like a complete schmuck when you walk into the homebrew store. check out these links (very informative)

http://www.weeklydig.com/eats_drinks...g_101_part_one

http://www.weeklydig.com/eats_drinks...dients__styles

http://www.weeklydig.com/eats_drinks...__time_to_brew

the only way you can learn is to start brewing. sure, your first few batches will probably suck, but once you get the hang of it, it will come naturally. just take your time and have fun.
