Suspention Knock

OK so when I go over bumps, il get a knock in my suspention. My mechanic said it might be the sway bar endlinks cause when they changed my LCAs, he said they might have gotten bad when they retightened them. Its a 30 dollar fix (15 per link), but what do you think this sound could be? Its a pop sound, but I doubt that its the struts...well at least i hope not because thats expensive. He also told me that he recomends that I change my brake pads and turn my rotors at the next oil change (5000 miles/5 months away). He told me everything else is fine with the car, and before I go to change the struts to fix the knock, to do the endlinks just to eliminate the possibility of it being them cause its such a cheap fix...could it also be that one of the springs is installed wrong in the strut assembly? I am pretty sure that my passanger front strut is newer than the drivers side, so maybe the spring is hitting itself or something...sometimes they put some kind of wrap on the bottom to eliminate noise. So here are the 2 debates

1. endlinks, struts, misaligned/misinstalled spring,or something else?
2. OEM pads and resurfaced rotors or there are other better alternatives to OEM pads for a good price. (yes we have covered this before)

We also got a good laugh at the size of my exhaust...it just might be 2 times bigger than my front 25.4mm sway bar and we just thought it was funny...he told me to replace it with a ricer canal exhaust if it really bothers me

It's a "pop?" If it's a clunking, I'd put money on it being your endlinks. I've been in two cars that have a clunking noise going over bumps or making turns in a certain direction, both were the end links. Take a look and see, or just spend the $15 per side or whatever your mechanic charges.

edit; also, endlinks might be one of the easiest things to do on a car. You could try it yourself?

Why don't you try to reproduce the sound while under the car to see what it is. Why spend $30 for nothing, that's just stupid.

check all your bushings up front, I don't think a bad shock will make a pop sound so that doesn't sound like it. Are you sure you don't have any wheel rub anywhere? Might be a stretch, but ya never know

my truck makes a clunk sound in tight turns, but its actual due to the driver side motor-mount bushing. check your motor mounts as well, you never know

Well, if your mechanic said its the endlinks and its that cheap, why not try that first and they see if it still does it?

We checked them today...with the hood open he had me rev the car and saw the motor movement. he said its normal...mounts are VERY expensive for my car...40, 65, and 135 for all 3

it seems like a very straightforward job though. 2 bolts, install, and same for the other side

bring your car to my house and i'll run over you hard, that way we can reproduce the sound and you can get a good look at were it's coming from

sounds dumb to just pay for him to "fix" something that might not be broke, get under your car and try to reproduce the sound

i already ordered the endlinks anyway...this usually happens when its a hit to a pothole or something of the likes...the road to school is very bumpy so all i hear is clunking for 30 minutes

well to those who said endlinks, you were correct. i just got done replacing them (and cutting my fingers on every part i could find in the process) and drove around. clunking seems to be gone, and i compared the new ones to the old ones, the older ones had a lot of movement....new ones did too, but the new ones were nice and tight, compared to the old ones that were more loose and felt like a joystick
