Is anyone else starting to stereotype asians as psychopathic killers?

After seeing pictures of the guy responsible for the VT Massacre, I can't help but picture every partially bald asian person I see as a psychopathic killer. I was working today and this bald asian guy walked into my department with his right hand in his coat pocket as if he had a hand gun in it. For a second or two I got an image of the VT killer. And then I laughed at the fact that I was being such a douche.

I can see partially-bald asians quickly becoming the new Arabs.

I don't see how there's anything wrong with this thread. I'm not trying to be rascist; I'm just trying to spark a discussion on the subconcious ignorant stereotypes that we all have of others.

I think you misunderstood me. I never said I was rascist.

Maybe this is too complex of a topic for you guys. I guess I'll go back to posting links to viral videos from now on; and I'll leave these kinds of posts for other forums with a different kind of audience.

Funny how you think this is a good starting point for a "complex" discussion. Ill humor you and say no I don't think balding asians are the new "arab". You also amuse me how you talk like you're more intelligent then anyone on here. Yet you make a highly unintelligent post about a "stereotype" about balding asians that's happened once. Can you name another balding asian whose gone crazy? Probaly not, like troll said keep these thoughts to yourself.

I live in a highly populated Asian area and I'm scared ****less LOL.
No seriously I was at the gym today and all the asian guys were make'n fun of it. How messed up is that? The tragedy is a few days old and guys were make'n "Manifesto" jokes.
They were crack'n jokes like he killed to many people cause he played so many video games, and he was hard to hit because of his "dance Dance Revolution" training. I could barely lift anything I was laughing so hard.

Again, I think you misunderstood me. I am not saying that balding asians are psychopathic or that they are more likely to be psychopathic. I am simply saying that this terrible tragedy may have effected some people's subconscious.

And note that this issue is already starting to be discussed. After I posted this thread, I saw that Fox News was beggining to bring up the topic of anti-asian sentiment due to the VT massacre.

I understand what your saying, however I dont think one occurance such as this will bring about that stereotype. You used arabs as a reference, but with them its more then one occasion that they have done things, and for different reasons. So no I dont think it will bring that stereotype.

It'll bring about a stereotype for maybe a week, but I find it hard to believe that this will be fresh in our minds down the road..this kind of stuff has a knack of going away over time.

And yes, I understand what you're saying. Don't cloud everything with rascist overtones; its more psychological than that, especially if its not less than 3 days after. Claiming it to be "rascism" and "ignorance" is just ignoring the human condition. Now if you see all of them, nonstop, and think those things, for say, the rest of your life. Then, you are, in fact, ignorant and rascist. But if you see a guy and you stop for maybe 3 seconds and ponder, no, I don't think that would be looped into the category of rascist.

just like i didnt start stereotyping white people after the amish school shooting.

the bottom line is that there is bad people and good people of every race and every color.

I am friends with a lot of asians from school and black people as well, and I will have to say that it doesn't make me look at anything any differently. We all treat eachother like equals and good friends.

there is a huge difference between asians and arabs when it comes to stuff like this. first off, asians are just as common in our culture as anyone else, arabs are not. most people didnt and still dont know much about arabs and their beliefs and such before the whole 9/11 and iraqi war broke out and lack of knowledge always leads to discrimination and misinformation.

No. I wont. Now, if cells of crazy balding asians start popping up everywhere screaming slurred nonsense and tryign to shoot schools up, maybe, but until then I am going to say he was just a nut and it had nothing to do with his race.

I do have a serious hatred for all things NBC in specific and news stations in general though. They are more at fault then the guns, teachers, failed policies and countless other things they are tryig to blame. Its time someone pointed the camera inwards and started asking them the tough questions, knock them off their "we are doing a great service" power trip and show them that they are the cause of most of this, they are the facilitators disseminating the hatefilled messages of many different groups that allow wackos to see that if they go extreme they too will have an international audience hear their petty gripe.

What is the point of stereotyping when there is no realy cut off for a specific ethnicity? Does being asian really mean being 100% or maybe 50% or even 62.7816% ?
You can be serious when you make asumptions about people cause of their background.
