If he had a turbo xs sticker in the back window I know that kid! He tunes the car himself and only runs 14.6's.

Yeah I know a bunch of people that use the OpenECU tuning. I haven't seen anything other than a protune for 07s from anywhere yet and its driving me nuts. The car has been out since August now, you'd think they would have been working on it. I guess they had to wait til delivery which was a lot closer to late Sept, early Oct. before any STIs or Limiteds were available for tuning. I just don't have the balls to do any tuning on my own, that and my Laptop is a POS. I am a Tech Support Analyst and I know computers well, so I am sure I could figure it out.
The 07 ECU is completely different than the 06s which is what is causing it to take a little longer. Heard from a guy specifically over at Cobb. And I was a little misunderstanding in what I said...when pushing through 3rd with the pedal down all the way...I feel it...substantially in 2nd as well...freakin weird.

![]() The 07 ECU's are totally different.. a different sized turbo and bigger/better flowing heads will cause that to happen. |

The turbo actually is the same exact thing or size at least as the VF39 on previous STIs. The only difference for the 07 VF43, is that it has a ported wastegate, 0.10 inches larger in diameter. I assume this was to address the boost creep issue, but people over at Nasioc have proved that it actually doesn't eliminate creep.
But you are totally right about the heads...thats what is making our 07s gain massive amounts of power with simple bolt ons. With headers, TBE, and a tune...07 STIs are making 325+ horsepower to the wheels...torque goes to about 315 ftlbs....insane

Doug, I doubt 400 to the wheels with bolt ons without upgrading the injectors and fuel pump with a "reliable" tune would be possible. But then again in the world of modded cars once in awhile one can get suprised.
Does anyone know if OpenECU would work on JDM Ecus? Mike, do you work in philadelphia>? I saw a 06 or 07 grey sti on the ben franklin one morning and he flashed the peace sign when he rolled by in traffic. I dunno if that was you or not .. it was the same colors as yours. Also Mike, since my ECU was tuned for higher octane gas in Japan I too started noticing an increase in hesitation when just overall less smoothness when the temperatures dropped here the past week or so to sub 32 degrees. I did a lot of research and found an octane booster that should be safe for long term use and worked. It is NOS Racing Formula Octane Booster. Since I put it in on Thursday night... instant smoothness and much more smoother power delivery. Night and day difference. It is on the pricey side but worth every penny. I would bet if you put it in your car your hesitation will go away ![]() Does it hesitate when you go WOT and then catch on? It is the winter blend of gas we are getting it isn't the best and if you have mods and a somewhat more aggressive tune the only way you are going to eliminate it is get a retune for a 92 or 91 octane or use an octane booster until warmer temps and better gas blends. Please feel free to msg me if you have any further questions or post on here. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Impreza GC8 JDM STI VI conversion 05 MCS Drop by my page @ http://www.myspace.com/jkjersey Last edited by jkjersey; 01-27-2007 at 11:31 PM. |

BTW: Octane booster I do not think will get rid of the 2007 limited hesitation issue. it has something to do with the drive-by wiring throttle and its sensors.

400 lbs of torque or whp with just a TBE, headers, and tune? On C-16 or pump gas?
Who tuned it? Is it on nasioc? Although I been focusing a lot on learning about Minis lately, I'm always trying to keep up. What are your injectors sized at on your 07? At 400 lbs of torque at the wheels the car has to be running 100 percent of the duty cycles.. right. So thats at its ragged edge. Nonetheless the potential of the USDM EJ257 block and the new 07 revisions to the drivetrain I have been learning about on here and other boards is definitely very exciting!!! A dual stage boost controller would be nice addition for these 07 models. I read what Mikie wrote above and users are reporting some boost creep still. What does the VF-43 run comfortably in PSI before its curve starts to run out of steam>? ---------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Impreza GC8 JDM STI VI conversion 05 MCS Drop by my page @ http://www.myspace.com/jkjersey Last edited by jkjersey; 01-28-2007 at 12:16 AM. |
