I love the honda community and honda's
first i had to deal with autozone. how hard is it to get an alternator belt that fits. i bring them my belt and ask them for a shorter one and explain that its for a del sol si motor. every belt i get is longer then the last. i hate that store. next my buddy decides he wants to clean the shop. and cleaning the shop means unorganizing all of the bolts i had taken extra care to organize and lose a few while he was at it. the cowboy sent me what i beleived to be integra parts but when assembling them they turned out to not fit quite like integra parts should. i modified most of it to fit and just went to a junkyard and did my own dirty work for the rest. shrugged off that screwing as it wasnt a bid deal. when i was wiring up the car/motor for the mpfi swap i find that not only did i get the exhaust manifold and intake manifold the intake manifold is obd1 not obd0. with alittle research i overcame that obstical as best i could and just ignored the other problems with it. i hoped to just wire up two oxygen sensors into one and trick the ecu, but i never got that far. after a grand experience dropping the motor in and trying to line up four motor mounts and putting everything together i learned that aparently the axles used on the integras in texas are alittle different from the rest of the world as the didnt fit into the intermediate shaft i bought off the sleaze bag who sold me the motor. along with not fitting in the intermediate shaft, it was rather loose on the tranny side. switching sides didnt help either. i decided whatever and attempted to hook everything up except that and just see if the motor would start. boy was i suprised when i turn the key and a good part of my timing belt shoots out of the engine bay. it really is a great feeling being broke, screwed, and ****ed all at the same time. |

working on it wasnt hard at all. getting ripped off on parts left and right, and getting the wrong parts from the autostore were the things i found difficult. doing the work wasnt a big deal its just that when every part you get, and are told is right, turns out being wrong and/or breaks it kinda takes away from your morale alittle bit. i did mention lining up the mounts was a little slice of heaven in itself but i knew that was going to happen. had i just spent the money and got the full swap from a website instead of sourcing everything im sure i wouldnt be having any problem with awesome honda people.

That sucks men I would have hoped you would have taken me up on giving you a hand, I could have helped you solve a ton of the hose problems but I don't want to kick you when you are down, you should have asked for the Del Sol SIR belt since the Si had the z6 motor and the SIR had the B16, also the 99 Si would have work too, also for the mid shaft, which I have 2 sitting here, the SIR B16 one need SIR axles from Japan and you cna easy just use a DA USDM integra mid shaft and use the USDM axles...as for the timing belt, just throw another on and see, hopefull since you didn't run the motor long you didn't bend any valves...I will come over and help just pm me and I will help...if you are seriously done with Hondas give me a call and I will probably take that car off your hands....sorry for you bad luck...Matt

Sorry to hear about all your problems with the B16. I'm in home stretch of a b16 swap, and it definitely is a pain in the ass. If that alternator belt is giving you a problem, you can just hammer in the frame rail a little bit for extra clearance. Thank God I changed the timing belt and water pump...when the water pump was pulled..it wasn't moving at all! If you need any pictures for reference on anything or some extra help just let me know.

Hey thats harsh...I don't think thats being fair, but most of the people I have delt with are good people and I like to think I am, I try to help everyone out, but yea there are some people out there that just try and scam you but I think thats just people in general not just Honda owners...

thanks for the sympathy guys. i would have taken you up on your offer matt, but i didnt have anything to offer you in return for the assistance and i cant have someone just help me out just because. if i can get about 2g's for everything(sedan+b16 90% swapped, and old motor) i will easily take it. ive been ripped off too much by honda people and i just am sick of it. theyre lucky its not that big of a deal to me or id take some pretty severe actions against them.
it really would have been easy if i just took my time and ordered the right parts. ill kick myself from this point on about that. i thought the 90-93 integra axles would work, which are what i supposedly got from texas. the intermediate shaft i dont know about its supposed to be the correct one but who knows at this point. the 99 si belt is the first belt i ordered and got the wrong one. it was way too long. then i tried the del sol one and its still too long. i want a shorter than stock one. thats why i feel overwhelmed, nothing is working out like its supposed to. |

I wouldn't have had a problem helping I like working on car but i understand...your best bet is to part out the car swapped cars don't usually sell for what you have invested into it...
