The Captain's 1964 Jet Bird

Well, I picked up this little (big) project of mine and figured I'd start a Journal to try to track the developments.

It's a 1964 Ford Thunderbird Coupe.

People tell me it's hideous, I like it.

It's got the 390c.i. 300hp matted to a boring 3spd slushbox.

I honestly have no clue which direction I want to take it. It needs power, that's for sure...and pretty much a full restoration, but other than that, looks wise, i don't know where i want to go with it.

Well, onto the initial pictures.

I'd love to hear some ideas on the direction to go. I'm thinking like a devilish look, flat black, slammed, sexy wheel fitment, but not sure so definitely give me some ideas.

I love older T birds... I would definitely keep the black, semi gloss maybe? and in addition, I saw this on an older Camaro, the car was semi gloss black, with a High gloss black racing stripe.

Awesome car. I dig old stuff.

One thing you might want to do is take those plates out of the pictures. It looks like they haven't been registered in years and you are suppose to return them to the state.

I know it sounds dumb but I once got pulled over the DAY i bought a new car and I had a tag from my old car in the back and the officer had a **** fit and ran my vins and everything and then when he saw it was all legit he said that I HAD to return the plates within 48 hours or else I'd get fines up the ass.

Yes to the swing away steering, but i'm not sure about the captain's chair. Next weekend I'm gonna actually get a chance to dig in, so i'll find out more.
