car for my girlfriend?

she has to hurry up and pick a car out, almost definitly going to be a VW. right now she's looking at the new eos, but i think he dad wants her to get a passat. i'm trying to talk her into a gti but she's worried about driving a stick, she also isn't into cars so the gti would probably remain stock. what do you guys think would be the best car for her? she's 18 and it would be her second car ( current being an 03 explorer )

Bugatti Veyron........what? it's a Volkswagon......kind of.

Ok seriously, she should get whatever she likes, if she doesn't like the passat then don't get it. Remember, it's not what you want, it's what she wants.

oh don't get me wrong i'm not trying to make the choice for her AT ALL

her dad wants her to get the passat or maybe jetta, she doens't want one. she really likes the GTI but didn't know it came in automatic ( she was iffy about a stick ) so that's probably what she will go with. she really likes the EOS but it's pretty doubtful her dad will buy her a convertible

she's interested in a car i can help her lightly mod, so gti is probably the way to go.

edit:

i wanted to know more of would the gti be a good "first" car for a fairly new driver, how is the maintence and can it take a bit of a flogging? we drive back and fourth to her shore house in the summer time, how will the gti ride quality be compaired to a passat?

I have no idea how much abuse a VW can take but considering how many people use them as tuner cars I would imagine they can hold up to some "proper driving"

I'm sure you've heard of all this, but Vdubs tend to have some MAJOR electrical issues, regardless of the amount of beating you put on it. One friend of mine had a jetta vr6 that smoked out of the 4way button, another friend has a 2.0 jetta and had to put like 3k into in the first year of having it. Just a warning.

she does not need to get a stick unless she really wants to drive a stick. Ive learned that from teaching my friends and watching them go through ****. If you don't care abotu driving stick, its going to be harder to learn, and def. hard to tolerate driving it 24/7... thus, she should not buy a stick unless she 100% wants it

she wanted a GTI but not a stick, and was under the impression that all GTI were stick shift, i looked in the vw site and it says they have automatic 6 speed with tiptronic, i told her that and she got really excited. i think she's going with the 07 gti automatic
