245s up front and 275s in the rear should be fine...

Keep in mind that if you do springs only, you'll probably blow out the stock BMW shocks within 15,000 miles.

What e39 are you planning on getting...525, 528, 530, 540, or the allmighty m5!??

probally less then that. Stock shock with stock springs will go in 30,000 miles and any amount of drop will blow the shocks out faster then you can buy new ones.
