Philadelphia Parking Authority

IS BULL****.

For people that don't know the PPA contorls all the parking in Philadelphia.

I won't even get into what they're doing to the taxi industry but they are redic.

I'm home sick from work today. I've been out moving my car every two hours and I just went out and got a ticket.

I moved my car from one end of the block to the other. I just called PPA and they said if your still on the same block its a violation.

The whole point of the two hour rule is so people who live in the area and have permits can find parking. How much parking do they need if I could have parked anywhere on the block I wanted.

I'm lost. You got a parking ticket for having your vehicle down the block from you house and moving it every 2 hours?

I don't get it. If you live there, why can't you park there?

They have a two hour limit for certain times of the day. Philly sucks so bad, they have other streets that you have to move by 9am. Omg how I used to hate staying at my fiances when she was at drexel. I'd have to wake up at the crack of dawn half drunk to move my car. Like I said philly blows and has rediculous parking laws....

You can get a parking permit where you can park near your house/apartment and not have to worry about moving it. The problem is your car has to be registered in Philadelphia and I'm not going to do that cause I don't want to tell my insurance I live in Philly.

Where there is two hour parking (unlimited with permit) you have to move. I've moved my car every two hours today but the last time i went to move it I got a ticket. Apparently moving a full block down (but still on the same block) doesn't count. I still got a ticket.

so you're skirting the rules and essentially committing insurance fraud, and you're bitching about getting a ticket because you won't do things the right way?

can't have your cake and eat it too.. pick one.. easy parking or lower insurance. whatever happens as the result of your choice, live with it.

I'm guessing you can't get temporary parking passes for friends/family that is visiting?

who cares what hes doing with his insurance? dont think that was the point, the point or topic of it was how the parking police are asshats. i dont think he needs you preaching to him about his insurance situation..im sure he appreciates it though.

Been there... I got the same ticket for the same reason last year. On Drexel's Campus parking is brutal so I have to play musical chairs after every class and try to find a new 2 hour spot to squat in for a couple of hours. The city of philadelphia offers less free parking than any major city I've ever been in, their signs are confusing and often changing, and their grievance system is a total joke.

its entirely relevant though. if you read what he said, if he did his insurance the RIGHT way, he'd have the proper permits to park there.

therefore he has noone to blame but himself. it's called personal responsibility.. look into it sometime.

This has nothing to do with insurance.

The point of the story was that the City of Philadelphia makes it impossible to park anywhere. Resident or not.
