WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET

This advice was sent by a retired State Farm agent!

This system has been tried and it works in every state. If you get a
speeding ticket or if you got a ticket going through a red light or
whatever the case may
be, you're going to get points charged against you on your license .
Points cost you money!

This is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get the points.

When you get your fine, send in a check to pay for it. However, if the fine
is
$79.00 (for example) make the check out for $82.00 or some small
amount over the fine.

The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference,
however here is the trick.

DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK!

Throw it away!
Points are not assessed to your license until all financial
transactions are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the
transactions are NOT complete. The system has received it's money and
is satisfied and will no longer bother you.

This information comes from an unmentionable computer company that
sets up the standard databases used by every state.

Send this to everyone you know.
You never know when they may need a break.

my friend did this and it worked. he sent in a check for too much, got a check back with the refunded amount and he never cashed it and he has never recieved the points on his liscense

When you pay a ticket now they have something in place that says we won't accpet payment... whatever they say but all in all it doesn't work.

I've heard of this before but i can't verify that it works anymore...a friend told me and his dad was like a judge or state cop or something...but i was told to just write it for a penny...they will still send you a $.01 refund and you loose more change than that in the couch

I tried it before... it delays it for a while then they called me and they told me they were gonna process it anyway and if i didn't cash the check they wouldn't cancel it but the case woudl still go threw. I think in places where they are good with paper work, not jerz, it doesn't work.

This is one of the longest running urban myths I can think of. Sorry, it doesnt work. Dig around on the internet for speeding ticket myth or whatever. Lots of legal beagles will tell you that this does nothing.

Doesn't work. I tried it and they just sent me my check back with a notice saying if I don't send them the correct amount within 14 days they'd put out a warrent for my arrest.
