Question [Updated 10/03/06]

since i have so many questions ill just keep this one thread alive rather than making a new one each time. so my newest question is:

If i buy a dash kit, alot of them i see say vinyl. does that mean its bascially like color-forms, like jsut a thin peel to over top of whats there already?

NEW QUESTION POSTED AT BOTTOM 10/03/06

New Question

I have a short ram intake on my car, and i heard stories about shortrams, actually cold air intakes taking water and blowing a hole in the engine. so i wanna knwo is it ok to take it into the carwash with my short ram? (the car wash shoots water underneath the car as well)

i dno bout the intake but as far as the dash goes, you can buy a plastic / vinyl dash cover for aroun 60, real durable and when put on correctly looks stock, they are easily painted to the right color w/ ardex vinyl paint

A short ram will be fine as long as you aren't spraying water directly into it...a cold air intake move the filter usually out of the engine bay and closer to the ground, the problem people have is more when the filter is submerged, sence it is sucking in air if you replace air with water it will go into the combustion chamber and then your pistons slam into it, like hitting water at high speeds it acts like a brick wall...they make a "bypass" vlave for cold air intakes to preven this from happening but I doubt you will spray enpouh water at a car wash to do this again its more so when there is flooding or large puddles....

A shortie wont take on water. And it should be fine in the car wash.

I dont suggest a CAI, we hydo-locked the Spec-V with one...no fun.

as said above, the only way you'll have issues with an intake is if the filter is completely submerged. So unless you're washing your car in a swimming pool, you will be fine.

Yea if you haven't done it its best if you get someone to help you...there are certaint ricks that make it easy...i will also suggest not wasting your money on e-bay springs or coils since you will get what you pay for a bounce almost unsafe ride...if you just want a little more agressive stance I say get a set of Eibach springs...if you want to be able to adjust the heigh go for a decent coil over but if you really want to lower your car a lot stock shocks will not last long...you could just get some decen shocks ment for lowered cars with a sleeve style coil-over or you could get some full coil overs
