my new exhaust and intake **sound clip**

so if you saw the other thread you know i got a new custom exhaust and intake and here are the pics and a sound clip of the exhaust.

and the good looking intake IN MY OPINION

and the sound clip is actually a video...there's like a small below 2k rpm rev just cause i didnt want it to be too loud so my mom didn't get pissed

sound clips with blow off and turbo spool will come tomorrow.

Did you or someone you know weld everything? Those joint welds may look good, but they create a lot of turbulance in an exhaust system. In a pressurized charge pipe system it doesn't much matter, but a proper mandrel bent system will not only flow a lot better than those jointed sections, it will surprisingly sound better.

04turbospec did everything. i don't know much about it but it all seems fine and in my opinion it sounds pretty damn good. but i guess i get what you're saying about the turbulance and stuff. oh well it's done i dont really know what i could do about it now, already spent the money lol.

Also get under there and spray paint as many of those welds as possible! They'll rust very quickly.

Its worth keep for now if it does what ya want it to do. What diameter is the exhaust? Looks like a single 2.5" maybe? You can order mandrel bends from Summit Racng for about $20 or so per J-bent (a 180 bend you can cut to make the bends you need) each. It only takes like 3 or 4 J-bends to do an exhaust. The thing is the exhaust should really be smoothe - you'd be surprised how much flow is compromised by joint welds like that - it's ok for intercooler pipe where primary concern is pressure, but exhaust is really about flow for the most part. If you plan to have that on the road for more than a year, I really recommend taking a drill with wire brush attachment to every weld maybe throw some acetone on it to clean it up, let it air dry for 15 mins, and then spray paint it. I am not sure what pipe is used, looks like mild steel but it may be aluminized steel. Aluminized steel won't rust on the pipe surface, but everywhere there is a weld, it'll rust because the aluminization is burned off - so spray those welds. If the pipe is mild steel untreated definitely spray the whole exhaust. Summit sells aluminum colored spray paint that withstands I think 2000 degrees F - not necessary as you will never see that temp on an exhaust but yeah.

its the same aluminized pipe the mineakey uses so it wont rust, and actualy a properly done cut weld exhaust will flow better than a mandrel bent exhaust. if you take a look at high dollar aftermarket M3 and ferrari, lamborghini exhasut they are all cut wled. reason being is the mandrel bender take some of the pipe diameter away in the bend because it streatches the pipe so it wont wrinkle. in a cut-weld exhaust the diameter is entact the whole way through.

think of it this was take a ball the exact diameter of the exhaust, now drop it down a mandrel bent pipe...the ball with get stuck. but if your do it down a PROPERLY don cut weld it will go all the way through.

now i understande that the difference is minimale, especially on a saab but what evere.

also if any one esle wants an exhaust done by me it doesnt have to be cut weld, i could buy the bends also

The inside of that exhaust is actually suprisingly smooth.

And yea that is 2.5 inch diameter piping but that was done because the 3" cost to much.

And no ryan you didn't wast yor money

Wow, that looks like a was a complete pain to do. My car won't be that bad. :P What kind of muffler did you use?

Oh, Turbo Spec, I've been busy working and finishing a project for the coming semester. Once books are bought and I'll get a hold of you. I've got a nice Apexi muffler to use. ;)

EDIT, found my clip of when I unbolted the catback last summer
