How bout them Phillies...

WTF! Bobby Abreu and Cory Lidle for 4 no name prospects...

are they or sumtin

im sorry, i understand bobby had a big contract payout that comes along with him but you dont go ahead and throw in a great young player also with bobby for these no-namers. As disapointed as i am this shouldnt surprise me Most of the time philly teams make dumbass moves but i cant get over this one knowing that bobby was going to go some time soon with all of the talk you dont trade in a porsche and a civic si for a bunch of base model suzuki esteem's...

me and my dad talked about this tonight in dissapointment when i got home from a friends. later on in the conversation he says "there suppose to make another move somtime tomarrow afternoon" my reply "ohh god i cant wait to see what there going to do now? trade off burrell and utley for a noname catcher and shortstop, when what we really need is some reliable and powerful pitching. we can swing the bat's but we cant throw the ball"

how do you guys feel?

Bobby's slacking. im sad to see him go, but we picked up two good very needed pitchers.. and got rid of some of the slack. Personally, I'd of rather seen them dump off Burrell than Abreu. Abreu walks a lot more, and he's much faster around the bases than ol' Pat. I hope Abreu wakes up and does well in NY.

5 behind in the wildcard with 60 games isn't bad. I think Dellucci is a great player, and glad to see him become the starer in RF.. he's got a good bat and is a better fielder than Bobby for sure. Hopefully the offense stays hot. We'll see what Gillick can do.. he wants to make one more trade he said.. I'm hoping it's not Dellucci (that'd be so dumb), Cormier (dumber), Gordon (REALLY REALLY DUMB), but Lieber they can dump off.. he isn't consistant anymore.

That's my two cents..

I agree with Doug when he says that Bobby was slacking some. Sometimes he never seemed to go all out or would let up and not go for the ball when he could of possibly caught it. I didn't realize that we were actually that close for the wild card race. Anyways I don't think it is too bad considering that if we don't make the playoffs we at least get to see how these new guys will do and if they are worth keeping.

What does anyone think about Utley? Think he is going to beat JRolls record?

Still can't believe they let Bobby go, plus they let David Bell go too. As much as I like Chase, I don't think he's gonna beat it...get real close tho. Okay, Bobby has slacked a little, but so did Pat Burrell and a few other guys. I cannot understand them letting him go for prospects? What the hell is that? We could at least trade him for a serious pitcher who is gonna put some strikes on the board. Philly teams always seem to amaze me with these b.s. trades for people who never show up. As you can tell, I'm aggravated ;)

ok, well here is my point of view.

This was an excellent trade for the phillies in many different ways. One way is that it clears up salary for signing free agents in the off-season. Second is that Abreu never stepped up in the clutch and he is a terrible fielder. He never wants to swing the bat all he wants to do is walk. Third, the phillies are going nowhere with the makeup of the team they have now, so they have to get rid of all the bums(especially Burrell). Don't worry this trade was for the better, I guarantee the Phillies will win 90 games next season. Their lineup will consist of mostly speed and power from Ryan Howard. This was a step forward for Pat Gillick and the Phillies.

I'm aggrivated too.. they traded Cormier today for a no-name minor league pitcher. DUMB.

I dont understand what there doing, i mean i do and dont. Im so unsure of all of this. I just saw they got rid of cormier and am upset with that. I rather have abreu then burrell but lately abreu hasnt been the same. I still think we coulda got a little something better for him and lidle.
Phil's are bout to come on at 1, trade deadline over at 4 so it will be interesting to see the next few hours. The way things look they are taking a year or two off and trying to rebuild, i doubt they will have a great season next year unless they pick up some good free agents. Anyone know who is free agent next year?

I was at teh game last night and we were all sad to see him go but it is one of the better moves, His salary was too high for us to start trying to build a stronger team. For example after the marlins win the world series they get rid of everyone and start fresh so they iwll be amazing in a couple of years. Were brining up good minor league players and dont forget howard was from the minor league.

dude they have 0% chance of making the wildcard because they have about 5-6 teams to pass, which is utterly impossible
