This weekend, I will be replacing my front rotors and pads with slotted rotors and Hawk pads. Any tips?

Depending on what type of compound pads you intend to purchase-there is a bedding in procedure. I'm not sure about the Hawk street pads. Just follow the instructions if available for proper bedding-in.

If the calipers are off, you may want to take the time to lube the pins/moving parts/little corners where the pads rest on the caliper.

Also (if the calipers are off) use a bungy cord to keep the caliper from dangling with it's own weight from the brake line. You don't want to stress the brake lines.

I don't know if you are bleeding the fluid or what:
-keep brake fluid off body paint
-use a fresh bottle/NEWLY opened of fluid always

clean off the rotors with break cleaner before you mount them and then be careful to keep the contact area clean. rubber gloves could help because brake dust is bad. Cleaning them will make the setting in period quicker and easier too. after theyre installed and everything is back in place take it easy at first and make sure they grab, drive around your block if its empty untill theyre up to par, then start to bring up the speed to make sure they feel like you wanted them to. and enjoy

Brake cleaner is no picnic to breathe in either. Definately use it in a well-ventilated area....unless ya like a cheap high.

i gotta get my pads n rotors changed 2, but im jus gonna take them to a shop to get them put on

i have the same set up...just clean off the rotor and caliper w/ brake cleaner, keep a c clamp handy in case the piston decides to push out a bit, and just put everything in place....brakes are EASY!! any retard can change brake pads and rotors. I have the same setup on my car....i love them, very quiet...minimal fade...well worth it for the price

One tip, skip the slots.(I hope it's not too late)

I have the slotted/dimpled EBC rotors. NOISY. The Hawks are OK though.

Well, I already bought the slotted rotors from Phil. I just need to pick them up and install them, whenever I have time.

Like they said above, make sure you clean the rotors before putting them on. I didn't, and had to deal with a horrible smell, horrible smoke, and horrible feel until I sprayed the suckers with some Brakleen later that day.
