Suicide.

Let's get something serious going.

Have any of you thought of/tried killing yourself? Or know anyone? Opinions?

Personally, I think it is a cowardly move. It is selfish and disrespectful to your family. I have more on the subject, and some stories but I have to get back to work.

wow, serious topic

Ive never tried it or thought about trying it (other than saying dumb things when I was a kid to piss off my parents)

I know a person who used to (and did as recently as a few weeks ago) send out text messages to all his/her friends saying things like 'goodbye im taking my last drive' and things like that just to get attention from people after getting in a fight with his/her parents....

suicide is probably the most selfish things a person can do. Unless its because of some sort of mental illness where you dont know the consequeces of your actions.

If I got a message from someone like that, they would get the wrath of hell from me.

I hate suicide. I've never felt bad for anyone who killed themselves. Only for their families and friends.

my best friend was drunk and going through some hard times. He lived a hard life but he knew soon that his life was going to be normal again. i dunno why he did it but my other best friend found him in his living room with a gun in his hand a day after we have all heard from him. one of the worst times of my life cause i have lost so many people in the past 6 months my life has been insane.

R.I.P. Jimmy 1-16-2006

i know alot of people think sucide is stupid including myself but i cant hate my best friend all i can do is wonder why... 2 weeks earlier me and jimmy both lost another one of our best friends and thats the only thing i can think of him reasoning to kill himself for. i dunno

I'm sorry LJ. That sucks.

But, life goes on. Petty problems at younger ages is nothing to commit suicide over. People lose their homes, jobs, families and still find a way to come back. That is why I have no pity for the self-made dead.

I guess you haven't suffered from clinical depression. Which I'm going through right now it sucks, but I'm not going to kill myself. I have had thoughs and right now I could give two ****s if I wake up in the morrning. Have you even dealt with suicide before? I've had three people in my family commit suicide and have had a few people in different squadrons kill themselves over stuff too. I don't know why you brought this up unless you need the help. If you need help I've been trained as every one in the AF on suicide prevention

Yes, I have dealt with suicide. Don't attack me, bud.

No I haven't suffered from clinical depression. I know how to take care of my mind and not get myself too deep into problems.

I brought this up because this forum never has any serious discussions. I figured it was time to let people read about things more important than some of the stuff posted. I have not, nor will I ever think about killing myself. I have too much to live for.

Ive never had anyone close to me do it. At school this year someone did it in his dorm room. I think it is really selfish because it wrecks for family and friends. The guy was a deanslist student and he hung himself in the closet in his dorm room where is roomate found him

I'm not attacking you, but this is not a something brought up lightly.
You think you know how to care of you mind, but no one care really say how they will react to any give situation. Iv'e gone through a lot of **** before now, but I'm not able to deal with what is going on now without help. Half the time I can't even think strait. I'll just put it this way The MIL Dr.s have me on 5 different meds to deal with every thing. I real don't want to go into detals of every thing I'm trying to deal with right now, but YOU have to be put in a situation before you can say this is how I would react. I'm sorry if I seem a little hostile, but this a touchy subject for me.

One thing I think about is my family and friends. Remember, that they will always be there for you when the **** hits the fan.

I was put into a very harsh situation about four years ago. But, I got through it with the help of my family. One person reacts differently to different situations, but that is just my method of salvation I guess you could say. Just realizing that there are people out there that care for your well being and want you on this earth.

I don't know you, but I want you here. One person gone creates a domino effect and it is saddening.

one of my best friends killed himself the day before our senior year of high school started...he was drunk at a party and his g/f dumped him...and it ended in him killing himself right around the corner of my house....it was one of the worst things i've ever gone through, not too many people know what it is like to watch one of their best friends get buried at the age of 18.

Tough topic. There are so many variables to take into account when trying to understand why someone would take thier own life. I believe some people are weak and chose the easy way out in all situations. But other times you find out a person committed suicide when they would be that last person you would expect to do so. I have only thought about it as a hypothetical situation. Suicide causes way more pain than it relieves. I dont have any first hand experiences with the subject in my family but seeing other families go through it I would never consider it an option to solve my problems. I'm sorry to hear about everyone's losses.
