considering buying a new civic si

Ok so i have considered buying the new civic si. I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with one. Knows the numbers it puts out, and if they have any neg/pos comments.

Please dont post that i shouldnt buy a honda, or honda's are ***, or anything like that. just looking for other peoples impressions on the car, and some hp/tq and 1/4 mile stats.

If i do decide to buy one, im going to get it in the red they have, with the optional lip kit, and the 18' wheels. Plus navigation.

I use to be a Honda tech and my opinion is probably very similar to how most Honda techs feel about them which is you can't go wrong with a Honda. Hondas are built well.

Now if you plan on beating the car and or modding it then all bets are off....

If you want a 12 sec car that you want to beat on that is going to run very reliably ask yellow GTO burnout what he recommends.

sport compact car recently featured 2 professionally built 06 Si, one of which was supercharged. They were really cool looking, but didnt make impressive power at all. Even with FI, the supercharged one only put out 220whp with a custom hondata tune. The one with basic bolt ons, I think ran 14.4 in the 1/4 and the S/C one ran a 13.6. If you are keeping it stock, they seem nice, but honestly doesnt look like they take well to modding.

Anyone remember NADs car from Super Street--it was a Acura RSX--they put like 5 or 6 grand into that car (intake, exhaust, header, cams, valve springs, custom TODA tune, pulleys etc) and only squeezed 225hp out of it. I love acuras and hondas, but with all the FI factory cars out now, they dont really seem to compete in the performance market.

I totally agree with that statement. For the price of a new Si, you could get the Saturn Red Line/Chevy Cobalt w/ a supercharger that puts down 210HP FROM the factory. Yes very nice looking car and I'm sure are reliable but for modding geez put how much into it and you get very little horsepower. John seriously go test drive a redline or cobalt or both if you want I'm sure you will find it a very fun car specially if you find an older model or used you can get them for a steal. However if you really want the SI they are nice little cars.

thanks for the opinion guys. Im not looking for a tottally fast 1/4 mile car. I want something brand new, with 0 miles that is fun to drive. I have always been a huge fan of vtech, and i love the rsx motors, which are now in the civic. As for mods, i would only go with i/h/e , pulleys... mostly work on suspension and looks. I sorta grew out of the fast car catagory, and want something nice, and reliable, plus looks awesome and will still catch peoples eye when i drive past. Not sayin im going to rice it out, **** all that, im more smart then that. My intentions are pure clean-ness , de-badge .. cf hood, wheels, and thats about all for the body.. o and the aftermarket lip kit that they offer from the factory.. i would DEFINETLY get that, it looks so nasty.

thanks for the good words. im just unsure of the color choice. i really like the dark blue they have, and also the bright red. hmmm. im sick of dark colored cars, i have owned 3 and they get scratched/dirty very quickly.

Also the new civics come with a indash screen with navigation

The civic look is unique. Surprisingly, it grew on me almost instantly. And from the looks of it seems they are selling pretty well too so I'm not the only one.

yeah see the red line and cobalt arent too much different from the si... yes they may be s/c but they are only 210 and thats with forced induction... and motortrend did a comparison of the red line, cobalt, wrx, srt4, and rsx. both the red line and cobalt performed the worst. got bad ratings. you should look into a subie, srt-4 or rsx. either of those are amazing cars for the price... i dont prefer the new si... i rode in one and well, fails to meet my expectations but hey thats just mee...

Ok.. Its funny you should ask. I have a friend that is looking for a car in this price range and wants best bang for the buck.

I had the previous Si for about a year and had no complaints for what it was. I LOVE the sound of ivtec with AEM intake.. Even better on the new one. BUT....

Personally for near the same money I would get the new GTI for its overall kick ass package. Better handling, speed, and solid feel with excellent fit and finish. The white is HOT!

But the new Si is very nice and I am sure you would be happy.. Here is me having some fun with my egg. The WRX passed me and rolled about two laps later..

Yea I seen the car and driver review......those three cars are how much more then a redline/cobalt......yea. The redline/cobalt is the best bang for buck in my opinion. The car for me handled like a dream and was awesome. LIke he said he's not looking for real fast anymore. The Red Line/Cobalt have an insane amount of potential to. I haven't drove the SI but would like to. I do however really love the look.

The Honda is a car you can keep for a long time. The other cars don't age as well. In terms of best bang for the buck the other cars might be a little better right off the bat but in terms of reliability and resale value the Honda has them covered.

I would suggest a srt-4 for same price and the engine. If you want the honda i say go for it if you can afford it. They seem nice and its probably a fun car to drive. basic mods and a lil appearance and keep it clean. would be perfect.
