Fuel sending unit?

The wires on my fuel sending unit are giving me problems, one is completely loose, and Sometimes the car will start right up, other times I have to go open the hatch and wiggle the wires around randomly. and I will hear a noise kick in when the key is turned, then it will start. Any Idea of how I can fix this? Hope it makes some sort of sense, I am not experienced in this area.
