Odd Shaped monitor

Anyone know where I can get a 20" w x 15" h Screen area monitor? I know its an odd size but I need a viewable area of 20 x 15.

Not sure if my math is right but I think that would be a 30" widescreen monitor. If thats the case holy christ that would cost $1,200 minimum.

I've used 30" monitors in work before we replaced them with 42" screens, but they run a very odd resolution. What resolution were you trying to run?

Do you need that amount of screen area in total or an actual 15 x 20 specifically? I ask because you could get any 27" widescreen monitor (~$300) and have more screen area than a 20 x 15, but it won't be that exact ratio. If you need a 20 x 15 monitor spcifically I have no idea where to even begin.

Resolution really doesn't matter. Another way about it, and I don't know if it's possible because there would have never been a purpose for this until now.

Can I run a widescreen resolution on a fullscreen monitor? My friend has a 20 x 20 monitor but that's 5" to tall thereby cutting off part of the screen.

Basically the reason I need the earlier mentioned size is because there is a bezel with that exact size which I need to stick the monitor behind.

hmm, yeah I have no idea. If it helps with your search at all, my 23" widescreen monitor has a view area that is exactly 20" wide but a height of only 11 3/8". Not sure how critical an exact match is but maybe you could match the width and just deal with a shorter height? What's the screen for?

I did some searching and found a forum with a post explaining that to get a 4:3 ratio TV's screen dimensions you take the diagonal measurement x 0.8 and you get the screen's width, and then diagonal x 0.6 to get the screen's height. A 25" 4:3 ratio TV's exact screen dimensions are 20" x 15".

but is that 20 w 15 h? While I was looking if w or h comes first (w x h or h x w) I came across a post saying windows are w x h but in many computer forums saw people listing it as h x w.

So in other words, your above post, is that 20 w and 15 h?

Yeah, the larger number is width. Even with those old TVs they're always wider than they are tall.

Will you be using a specific application at all times on the monitor? Since it'll be behind a brawl, you can use a program to push a certain resolution to the monitor, and have the application open at x,y coordinates.

Mike, go on Newegg and look at the 22 and 23 inch monitors. You just have to look at the dimensions for each monitor separately since they aren't measured by screen size, but by the plastic trim. I looked through a couple, and found some that were less than a half inch within your measurements, so it wouldn't surprise me if you found one that was closer, just look at the pictures first and find one with minimal plastic trim.

Also I am assuming your measurements aren't including the stand, so you would have to make sure its compatible with wall mounts too.

One idea would be looking at raw unmounted screens, like replacement screens for laptops.
is it a 16:9 aspect ratio you need?
