So I am an engineering science major and for my most recent homework i had to make a wheel. I made these 5x105 bolt pattern wheels. I did them in powdercoated gold and again in purple. Kinda remind me of bbs wheels I saw once, not sure which model though. Anyways just thought I'd share. I kinda messed up the centers and my center caps didn't line up but ill post pics with them when i fix it.

Is it going to get anymore detailed than that? It looks pretty simplistic.

Definitely cool that you got to do this for school, though.

haha, add some polished rivets along the outside.

Yea I finished up the center caps last night. I'll post them up when I get some time. And I'm gonna try and separate two pieces and do a polished lip.

doing a 3d model of a wheel can get a little complicated. its not as easy as it looks.

im surprised you used solidworks for that. do they let you use inventor?

Im guessing you are at MCCC? i remember doing these.. can't say I love the centercap but the rest is pretty cool (edit: I just read you did more with the center caps)

Yea they extruded too far. I fixed them and got center caps on them now.

I remember taking engineering design and we used solid works, very user friendly program.

solid edge is easier for making a screw ;)

I'm more used to solid works at this point just because it came with the text book. They are both pretty similar though.

Yeah, both are pretty much the same... but helical cuts are easier to to in solid edge IIRC.

I wish we had SolidWorks. Much more stable. Inventor is crap.

Holy crap, I can't believe some of you are reppin' Solid Edge. lol My desktop has Solidworks and Solidedge open right now (don't ask why both lol). Didn't think many people used SolidEdge, but I guess it's growing in popularity.

To the OP, try rendering it before posting it next time. People will be more dazzled.

That wheel looks like a colaboration of CCW and Rotiform! Nice work, I think CAD/3D design stuff like that is awesome!

guess it all depends on what your using it for. In the construction industry, its pretty much ran by Autocad and Revit. Inventor is good for part drawings IMO.
