So came across a chance to pick up a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT for a really good deal, and just couldn't pass it up.

The problem with the car though was that the turbo went bad and in the process all the oil was expelled out the exhaust. Don't know if it was driven with no oil pressure or not. Only when I started it, it ran and the oil light didn't go out. Knowing these motor I did a leak down in cyl. 4 and sure enough 38% leak down. So the costumer traded the car in and I bought it. Now the good part. FREE turbo. The turbo was actually under parts warranty as the previous owner had it replaced 6 months ago in Colorado. had the oil change receipts and it was covered(they knew the turbo was covered before they traded it in).
old VF40

So pulled the motor apart and the oil pump was shot, the crank was scored and bearing material in the oil pan. All the oil rings were stuck and some of the compression rings were as well. Time to order some now parts. Ordered a 2010 Sti nitride-treated crank, ACL main and rod bearings and oem rings(on and budget can't go all out)

ACL rod bearings and oem rods installed

Once I got the block all cleaned up and checked out it was reassembled.

Cleaned the heads up and relapped all the valves and moderately P&P the intake and exhaust ports.

Since I had the intake off I did a TGV delete.

without/

Finally reassembled took about two weeks cause of waiting for parts.

turbo came in too.

Funny this turbo says VF52 on it not VF40. (sorry bad picture)

Got the 40 and handed it back in and HELLO VF52

While I did the motor I also installed a Walbro 255 to go along with the larger turbo. and a that point I was done. Put the motor in and had Ray from turbotek send me a safe break in flash and no codes so I could get the car to pass pa emissions. oh and no more bug shield

Just waiting on a few more parts and I can hopefully get a road tune and see what it can do, but till then I'm enjoying driving it as is. So much more enjoyable to drive then my 99 OBS

Future plans:
Full turbo back exhaust
Intake
deatschwerk 740cc side feed injectors
BC coilovers
F&R sway bars
XXR 527 chromium black 18x8.75 +35

Thanks. I've got just under $3500 into it with the rebuild and everything. Been trying to find one for a few years now. Unfortunatly its silver, it's really not the color of choice, but I can work with it.

Aw man, makes me miss mine! I had a silver one too (not my color of choice either, but got a stellar deal). I have still have an extra rim/tire and the engine cover from mine if you'd want them.

I'll make the silver work for me. I think lowered with the right wheels and I won't even care about it being silver. I pretty sure there are the wheels I'm going to go with.
18x8.75 +35 Chromium black. I will need to get my fenders rolled but I think it'll be worth it.

Good pickups. What are you going to use to tune this?

No worries on the wheel, figured Id offer since they're just sitting around.

I'm using an open source tune. Right now I have an e-tune from TurboTek until I get my injectors. Once I get them I'll have Ray road tune the car.

What Warranty work are you hopefully getting done?

Yeah I was able to get the down pipe and Cat-back on. Still need to mess with the CBE a little more. Not happy with the way the one muffler sits. I'll take care of that next week. I'm happy with the way it sounds though.

Once I get the mufflers straightened out I'll get the pipes tig welded to get rid of these clamps.

Caldwell, where you over on Oak ave tonight around 7:30 or so?

Hopefully a new block... I have rapid oil consumption and a knocking noise at idle and at speed. So I decided to strip the car down back down to stockish and try my luck at a dealer for a fix. If they do nothing, then I'll toss my suspension back on, wheels and brembo's and look good till the motor blows lol.

Got some more parts on the car over the past couple week. Installed a set of DeatschWerks 740CC injectors. Had Ray from TurboTek Tuning do a road tune for the car. It feels great now. Nice to be able to open it up and enjoy it.

Also picked up a set of BC Br coilovers from a LegacyGT member. Took them apart and put anti seize on the threads so they don't freeze up on me. I got the ride height all set, but now I need to play with the dampers to see how I like it. Have it on the softest setting right now and can tell the rears need to be a good bit stiffer.

Have the front grill out right now so that I can clean it up and plasti dip it.
