Heres a crazy question

ls v-tec integra turbo or high mileage evo?? This is what i am pondering on right now for my next car choice, i have only 12k to spend so finding an evo is going to be hard, and if i find one in my price range i feel like its only gonna have high milage and problems. As for the integra i can find one relatively cheap and already built, lemme know what you guys are thinking this is going to be for a dd

Buy my turbo Integra it's as mint as they come and I'll sell it really cheap for a quick smooth sale...350whp low miles full interior great for daily. No BS.

High mileage EVO can be problematic as it was most likely beat on (you could get lucky), and a boosted Integra, well I don't know enough about Hondas, but I would not buy someone else's project regardless of the type of the car. Where is the fun in that?

Evo will be WAY more fun than an LS-vtec teg. Will also be WAY more reliable for a DD. Turbo LS-VTEC and u r just asking for trouble/problems/issues... and no, I don't care how long your friend has been driving his, I've been around long enough to know that pretty much every LS-vtec motor, especially those that are boosted, will inevitably take a dump on you. With that said, I doubt u will find a non-molested EVo for 12k, but could probably find a turbo ls-vtec for MUCH under that. U can't have the best of both worlds though, U will not have the same reliablilty and performance with the Integra.

I dont think you can get lucky on a high mileage evo, chances are that in the 100k that its been driven, its at least been driven spiritedly. I mean its an EVO when it comes down to it.

If you think your gonna find a high mileage evo that was driven by a grandma, your not. its going to be hacked up and not worth the problems it will give you.
That boosted teg looks very nice, i think you'd be better off staying away from a high mileage evo and just look for some V-TAAAAC

I have a one owner evo with higher milage that was bought new from the dealer in 03. ZERO problems. Send me a PM when you're ready to purchase a car. Also have subaru's ETC. Cant list any more info in here as I'm sure it would just get deleted and reported as a ''forsale post''.

I would say if the teg isn't sleeved or forged internals don't expect it to be a reliable daily in the long run. The guy I bought my teg off of went though 2 other blocks before he finally did it "right".

I am in no way knowledgeable when it comes to Honda. Just speaking from what I read/saw/heard when looking for my teg.

I don't have vtec but man is 340whp fun lol. And I'm getting amazing gas mileage to boot. then again I don't dd mine since I have a low mileage jeep beater.

Evo will be a better all season dd for you with awd and above average allseason tires. Just have to worry about previous owners and how they treated it IMO. Whatever you decide good luck. Domroks car is built to handle some abuse if you ask me so it is a good option. Or come over to team-integra.net and look around. That's where I found mine.

Buy both and then give me whichever one you don't feel like keeping...

Haha, in all seriousness... I'd vote EVO if you're gonna spend that much.

The integra route will most definetly be cheaper. So many things things come into play. what is the condition of the engine? well if its a stock ls block and with a stock b16 head for example and running low boost, like 8-10 lbs, as long as you take care of the thing it will be good. hondas are really realiable. beat on, high millege, id stay away from that.
high boost with stock interals and well...yeah.. we all know the answer to that.
another route you could go is gsr and turbo and make a relaible 300 whp all day. IIRC, gsr internals are stronger than ls internals. I would have to think they would be cuz the gsr obviously revs higher than the ls and makes more power. however, fully built ls vtecs in n/a form will make more power than a fully built gsr in n/a. turbo should be the same way.

a used evo for 12 k is gonna be hard to come by, just like everyone else said, its gonna hacked up, beat on, driven hard. and yeah its an evo. not a ford taurus grocery getter. lol

w/ 12k I would be looking for a Integra with a K swap. Easily obtain 200+ whp n/a with bolt on's and have Honda reliability for daily driven.. Only prob. with the Teg would of course be fear of theft.

i cant imagine a teg is 12k.
i also cant imagine buying someone elses 10+yr old turbo'd car. sounds like a recipe for disaster. that being said an evo in the 12k range sounds like a serious gamble too.
considering anything else?

LS-VTEC= Taking a bottom end that is not designed to rev to 8K, and slapping a head on it which will entice you to do just that. LS bottom ends are not designed to take that kind of abuse (high revving vtec or boost); the stroke is longer and the rods are weaker (recipe for disaster). While it may make a little more tq than a GSR, so much less reliable. Your best bet if u r stuck on the Integra idea would be to find a non-molestered GSR and start from scratch doing it right. Otherwise all u r doing is buying someone else's problem.
