All I have to say is stupid. I don't want to get into any big arguments on this one. Sorry. I'm waiting one day for someone to get out of control and hit all those people standing right next to the cars practically. Some people just can't seem to understand.

I think the only cars that will actually lose control down there are the slow ones that will do very little damage to the people. From my experience, they are the ones who lack any common sense and driving capabilities. Hell, I watched very few times, but most of the time it is the slow ass cars that are being idiotic. I saw some guy who couldn't even line up straight because he was probably high in his ealy 90's Accord.

are you serious? if you get hit @ 5mph you can break a limb. its not like the cars are so slow they cant hurt you. thats crazy talk....

and even if the fast guys are being careful.. you never know when something will break and cause a loss of control.... a suspension component, for example.

Actually, any slight imperfection in the road could have made that Nova dive into the crowd. Watching that reminds me of the exact reasons I haven't been there in years.

I stopped going down there a few years ago. Running from the police sucked! You never think about all of the bad stuff that can happen when you go down there. I'm just glad I had some other friends who helped me realize that going down there is stupid!

not to be thinking negatively, but dont any of you guys get scared of robberies/carjackings with all those nice cars and such a large crowd w/ no cops at night?

I also dont understand how they close off the road to do races like that...and how the oncoming traffic doesnt call the police and break up the races as soon as the crowd forms?? That video is straight out of F&F...

I've seen some people get in some fights over pretty stupid things when I used to go down there. I don't think many people think of what could happen. Eveyone is just trying to get one more run in until the police break things up.

When my one friend was pulled over they gave him 2 tickets and threw his keys so he had to search for them.

Why is this funny to me? There has to be a SNL skit on this. Or maybe it was in the movie Supertroopers, Smokey and the Bandit, etc.

I would love one time to just spoil their fun and call the cops on them once in awhile. I wouldn't give a **** at all either. And serisouly like someone said before, those kids obviously haven't seen a real care before or something if they think that nova is so hot. I've seen plenty more beautiful cars than that at the track. That guy is a moron himself.

I couldn't agree more. Street racing with hundreds of people, or even 1 person standing right by the starting line is the absolute most rediculous thing I have seen. How STUPID can you people be (the ones that stand there)??? I admit, I have streetraced, but you can bet every dollar you have owned that I would not race with

A) a passenger in either car (not counting getting on the gas for a gear or two at a traffic light)
B) ANY CARS anywhere in sight
and the most important...
C) people standing by the starting line, or ANYWHERE alongside the road after the start.

I would love to agree with you, but the higher powered cars have BRUTAL crashes. Luckily, it doesn't happen too often because they aren't acting like morons, and take racing seriously.

DAMN IT!! I can't find the video now There is a video of an LS1 camaro losing control and crashing in to a group of about 50 people. It looks like he spins off the launch, goes sideways, smashing in to a HUGE group...

I'v been going to the races for a long time. I've never seen a car lose control off the starting line. Not to say that it couldn't happen. I have actually clipped idiots standing to close with my side mirror.(After telling them repediatly to move back)

I don't race anymore down there. My car is at the point were it would be very easy to lose control. The last thing I want to do is hurt someone.
