Top Gear USA

Hey everybody I just saw the first episode tonight and my reaction was it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Even though it will not top the UK version in my book.

What are your reactions to those who saw it?

I probably would've enjoyed it more if they hadn't opened with a segment that TG UK had already done.

Check http://www.finalgear.com/ for updates. It's the unofficial Top Gear/Fifth Gear forum. Links are available to torrents for each show. One of my favourite sites.

The woman in charge of the whole channel came to my school Wednesday... I thought it was cool when she kept talking about Top Gear AND told us 2 guests who will be on the show :D

  • Poor humor.
  • Chemistry between the hosts is forced.
  • Recycling of ideas that Top Gear UK executed 3 seasons ago.
  • Adam is annoying. Really annoying.
  • No Stig "facts".

It was garbage.

Of course comparing the US version to the UK version is going to make it seem bad. A lot of you seem to forget how the UK was when it first came out. Also, you can't compare the two that easily, the UK Top Gear has been out for IDK how many years now, and this was the first episode of US. Seems some of you have unrealistic expectations of a a show on its first episode.

I hated the fat guy with the beard. Surprisingly, Tanner was not too bad. Overall, it's the first episode, we gotta give it time.

I have a problem with that line of thinking only because it should have been that much easier for them to make it a good show from episode one. What they needed to do has already been spelled out for them with 15+ great seasons of Top Gear UK. There was no learning curve for them to overcome like there was for the early episodes of the UK show.

Actually the current Top Gear UK only existed since 2002. Prior to that the show was not a comedy involving cars, it was an actual automotive review show that did not only include cars with unrealistic price tags.

Even so, the "new" Top Gear UK needed a year to figure itself out as James May replaced a more boring guy for the second season.
