High flow cats?

I was looking at getting some high flow cats on my truck, but I've been told that I'll throw some codes, is this true? The truck is a 4.3L V6, OBDII. I searched Google but found nothing for my truck...

I'm putting a hi gh flow cat on my IMSA just to keep it legal and driveable. They work the same way as a standerd cat so i dont see any problems with it.

It's a toss up. Seen a lot of GM's with high flow's that will throw the code and some that don't. Could find somebody with HPtuners and delete the cat codes and problem solved.

true but in my eyes $100 bucks to delete the codes and then basically have unlimited tuning is worth it. I basically purchased HPtuners for myself. I have made my money back on it but thats besides the point.

I've been thinking about getting my truck tuned, it's such a dog now it's unreal... plus the added option of taking that ****ty 97MPH speed limiter off is a bonus... I want to grab myself a wide band though, I don't wanna go too lean and blow the thing up, it's only got about 85K on it

im sure there is someone somewhat near you with efilive, check all the chevy forums, they can for the cost of a license et rid of that jackass limiter and correct speed-o's and turn off codes and whatnot. then they can give you a copy of your stock calibration and you can send it some someone like black bear and have them build you a tune then it can be loaded into your truck for free.

ide offer to do it for you but i doubt you wanna drive all the way to jersey

High flow cats are pointless on cars under 500HP. I posts a study awhile back that should less then 1 HP difference from going stock, to catless, to high flows. Save your money.

FYI, there is no guarentee with high flows you won't throw a code.

I don't care about the power aspect ,I just wanna be louder :D

Plus, I think my cats are about done, it smells like I've been dumping unburnt fuel thru them, and I'm pretty sure that's not a good thing... If I have to replace them, I'm gonna go with the high flows.

Depends on where at in Jersey, 609 is near Mount Laurel isn't it? My aunt lives near there and it's about a half hour away from me...

Check out magnAflow they make a direct fit ( bolt on) and universal (weld in) but my poit is that I have a hi flow cat from them for my 84 supra. I am sure they make one for your truck.

I ran my car all day yesterday with out my magnAflow muffler, just the cat and 2.5 piping and god damn is it loud.

A hi flow ca will make a sound difference but not much without bigger pipes.

I'm sure there's a lot of companys with them that fit my truck, but I'll give MagnaFlow a try. I just want something that flows a little better than stock without going completely cat-less, since I still like to have my truck inspected like normal...

Well yeah Iam sure there are plenty of places that do for your truck haha. But for my almost there 30 year old car it's hard to find.

But yeah the manga flow sounds great I can say that I have been happy with it.

Its very possible that it will throw a cat efficiency code or secondary o2 code.

actually that depends highly on the application, every vehicle is different and some companies suck at making efficient cats more then others. my cat choked up my truck significantly while just barely scrapeing the 400whp level
