put some dye in the system, sounds like a seal is bad in the compressor. is it clicking or hard pressed when turned on?

Is the AC clutch working? Does your system have the correct pressure? Could just need a recharge?

usually if its got cold air and then turns hot in the snap of a finger its not just a recharge. if it slowly turns warm then that is a possibility.

Still gonna recommend a slight shot of r134a,dye,and a UV light.

A/C systems are one of those things where you have to know pressure inside to be able to diagnose the issue. Get some gauges and see what the low side is, and then check what the high side is with the A/C on. It could be just the clutch worn out and slipping, or it could be a worn out compressor.

When you turn the A/C switch on does the compressor engage or does it just keep spinning free? If its turning on then you still have pressure in the system, but could still be low enough to not chill. But usually when you have low freon levels it will blow cold and then go away because it will free to evap.

Also, is the condenser fan working?

from what i can tell when i turn the dial the compressor will engage and start making a hissing noise and when the ac did work the hissing noise would fade away and blow cold air now the hissing noise does not go away and it blows warm air condensor fan does work
