yesterday i was driving my 240 around and there was a sharp turn so i down shifted and made the turn and the car shut off.. i thought it stalled but it wouldnt restart at first but i finally got the car started again BUT...........now it wont go into any gear..no matter how hard you try it only stays in neutral... im so pissed right now i just want it out of garage..

if anyone can lead me in the right direction or any ideas before i go crazy. i just got the car and have been driving it everyday and now this ..

i have a full car lift at my house so i can fix whatever needs to be done or i can even check something if anyone has an idea of what it might be

does it shift into gears when the car is off? does the shifter move at all or is it wedged in neutral? do you have movement from side to side?

If you have a lift at your house, you should have some general knowledge what to look for when a car won't go into gear...

clutch frield, no fluid or need bleeding, shifter needs adjusted, ect,

you can move it side to side and into any gear when the car is off but as soon as you turn the key it locks up and you can only move it side to side in neutral

the lift came with my house when we bought it.. my focus is a AUTO and my dads accord (5spd) is newer and he is a school director so this is my first real experience with fixing a 5spd

and yes i know how to drive stick lol

Your lucky the house came with a lift. Thats a sweet find.

When was the last time you did trans fluid and diff fluid? Maybe check your T.O. bearing.

fluids were ll just changed before i got the car.. ill check TO bearing

ok so idk i guess the clutch was stuck so i got it unstuck and got it started and drove it down the st and it died again..so now its stuck at the bottom of the st. what else is going to go wrong with this car

Sounds like your having an electrical issue, combined with a Throw Out Bearing issue..

do your lights get dim sometimes? any other electrical issues? Does the engine sputter when it does, or just shut off on you? I'd pick up a service manual for 240's and start double checking all your grounds.

battery is dead i just dont no y its like sputtering and idling really low now..then when you put it in 1st to go the car always stalls..i know how to drive stick the car just wont GO

i'd also check your maf. Make sure it's clean (pick up some maf cleaner) also check to make sure the wires aren't messed up. Also, with a dead battery, i'd check out your alternator. If your battery can't hold a charge, and the alternator isn't working, it'd explain the random shut downs. i'd bring the battery and alternator to an auto place that does free tests on them and eliminate some options.

i started it up and drove it down my driveway and turned down the street..idk what i did different until i got to the end of the street and it shut off again..

if someone that lives near me can please come help me figure this out before i lose my mind..

cleaned out the throttle and MAF.. but theres still something wrong..

when idling it idles below 1000 and the entire engine and trans shake like crazy and when i rev it up higher like to 1500-2k+ it stops shaking

not doing anything but every single light in and around the car blinks none stop..so i disconnected the battery so it stops

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you put it in the on position before turning it the rest of the way to start?

Also, could it have an aftermarket alarm? That would def show its face if the battery was replaced.
