Call Progressive NOW

I've had my 05 STi a little over 6 months now insured by USAA. USAA has been charging me 3k a year despite the fact I'm 28 y/o and have 0 points (perfect driving record).

I heard Progressive came to NJ now (presumably following Geiko's lead) called and got quoted LITTERALLY half of what USAA was charging for my hearly premium! $1500 a year! Huge savings...now I feel like one of those tools from the commercial..."I just saved..." well you know the rest. Not only that but my liability has been uped substancially. USAA was 15k per person 30k per accident- now I'm 100k per person 300k per accident!

Truth be told, I guess not all commercials lie- if your an NJ driver call Progressive NOW! I didn't think it would benefit me much either...I was quite happy to be wrong.

awesome, thats cool. i've had progressive since i bought my car 3 years ago and they were the cheapest for me in PA (20-23 years old, single, perfect record, etc.)
now think of all the extra money you can put towards your car this upcoming year

Indeed- though I'm not sure what to do next. Maybe a protune- but I don't want to go overboard with alcohol injection and/or larger turbos. This has to be my daily driver.

Though lately I'm being seduced by the new IS350. *I just hijacked my own thread*

heh, wait until u get in an accident, then you'll see how awesome progressive is...

Undoubtedly the WORST company for both body shops and patrons to deal with
when it comes to them paying for ur car to be fixed on an insurance claim.

Well there isn't much they can do in regards to NOT paying. If your insured and you get in an accident they have to pay...simple as that. I have heard that they try to use generic replacement parts rather than OEM, but USAA does the same thing. They only replace with OEM if it's not available in generic.

If any parts need replacing that's when I usuallly replace it with something aftermarket anyway and pay the difference.

Regardless $1500 a year savings is substancial whether you like Progressive or not. But thanks for the insight.

aftermarket parts = high labor supplements trying to make the parts fit

besides, what u sign with collision insurance is that the car will be repaired
to the state that it was in before the accident. did you have aftermarket or
OEM parts on the car when you wrecked it? If OEM, it should be replaced with
OEM

I'm suprised that Progressive even comes close to USAA...

USAA insures my house, 3 cars, all my crap, and the engagement ring. They have been nothing but awesome.

so did, you actually wind up paying what you got quoted? same thing happened with my mother and geico. "oh my god i'm saving $1000 a yr" with the first quote... then come payment time, they found a way to shove it to her and she's only saving $200 a year. she already switched to another insurance company.

Progressive screwed me too, so did geico, what they do is the give you a really low quote, when you go to set it up right before you start the policy they hit you with these surcharges and ****, Like EXAMPLE, I got a NON Moving Violation ticket about 3 yrs ago now and they said it was still a ticket which made my premium go up $364 a year which considered me an usafe driver that sets the premium of $189 also. So I hung up and just stayed threw my insurance company NJ Manufactors, cheapest in NJ so far I have found.

i called around for hours when i first got my car and everyone was giving me quotes for like 500 to 700 dollars per month for just my wrx so then i called my usaa since i had the saturn already on that and im paying 400 a month for both cars... i think usaa is the best and when i got in my crash 2 years ago i had no trouble with them getting my money for the total.. i love usaa and will probably always deal with them... awsome customer service too!!!

That in a nutshell is the reason I've stayed with USAA even though I know I coulda gotten lower insurance elsewhere. I've never had a problem anytime I've had to file a claim. Also when I wrecked the ZX2, USAA did give me the option of going OEM on the parts. The only catch between going OEM versus aftermarket was that the guarrantee on the aftermarket parts and work was guarranteed by USAA where as they didn't offer any such guarranttee on OEM.
USAA has been great for my home owners and car insurance. Whatever you do though....don't EVER get a mortgage from them! They f'ed up my mortgage so bad it was unreal....and I had 2 mortgages before and didn't have those kinds of problems.

ScoobyNubie, if you were being raped for 3k a year and quoted 1.5k a year by Progressive I think you would have switched too.
