Talk about just wrong

http://search2.foxnews.com/search?ac...treet%20racing

and the story

http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Jun...otRods,00.html

All i have to say is, its not gonna do anything, they are damaging personal property, and they could do so much more that would be more efficent. Hmmm lets say selling the car in an auction aka ebay or state auction. Give the car to charity...ofcourse stock, and make the owner put it back to stock and sell the parts. The definatly have other ways, but this just makes me sick

That really blows. All of the cars mentioned were not pulled over for street racing. They were random traffic stops. I guess the point of it is that if you live in CA you will have to make sure that all your parts are bought through a shop and you keep the receipts. I remember that when I lived in CA they were extremely tough on street racing. You could lose your license and have a fine that was in the thousands for just watching a street race. I am all for the ‘taking it to the track’ mentality they are trying to push but crushing cars for having parts with mismatched VINs is ridiculous. I can see impounding the car and removing the parts before the kid can get it back but crushing their property is stupid.

thats not as bad as VA.. they are now including surcharges with almost EVERY TICKET for up to $3000.

20 over the limit = ticket + points + $2000.

1/3rd due immediately.

i dont mind things like crushing cars.. as long as they KNOW for a FACT, and can prove that the person was street racing.

Wow... guess I'm not ever bringing my car to CA. Don't want to have to watch it get crushed just because I have a 1G motor in my 2G.

Sounds like those cops just want to make a difference and act like a bunch of hard asses. Also sounds like they crushed the cars because they thought the part(s)(motor) was stolen dispite the fact that he had the reciept

i think if you swap an engine you should have to register the vin difference on your car, if in the registration process its flagged as stolen, its dealt with accordingly *shrug*
