Honestly, who are you protecting by making this guy change his name? Any kids that come on here will either A) Not get the reference, or B) Approve of the reference. I dont see the username as particularly offensive to women, and I certainly am not offended by it.

And I particularly love how we can have an avatar with an actual picture of a girl in a thong.. but (*)(*) is far too offensive.

On a more serious note, the mods do the best they can. You can't catch everything and they don't really over mod/censor stuff. We can say just about anything on our minds within reason. I personally think the name is much better then some of the avitars I've seen but at the end of the day it isn't all that big a deal to pick something slightly more PC.

Why should I be defending anyone in this situation? Just because I find something humorous doesn't mean it's going to fly with everyone. The Staff on TST (the Staff Crew, if you will) works together and when the general concensous among us is that certain things that are inappropriate, we make moves to enforce that.

My points being that your poll is not going to change the fact that you've been asked to select a new username, and none of the new ones you've chosen are likely to be allowed either.

As for censorship, we just try to keep the 'site work- and home-friendly. Our swear filter has less than 10 words in it, and we have the Garbage Bin for all the other stuff that surfaces. Avatars have guidelines, too, and if you think that someone has one that is "too hot for TST" or vastly inappropriate, you should report one of the member's posts and draw that issue to our attention. There's four guys on staff, and 2x,xxx members, it's practically impossibility to see everything. So feel free to contribute to the pretty radical 'site that TST is by doing so, and thanks again if you're already doing so.

Also, Accordguy, we'd never take away your rights to bear arms!

i say change it to "bukkake" because that's about what the request to change your username equals

i say put "support breast cancer" or "save the boobies" in your sig so when they change your username, you can say they got rid of your support for breast cancer. i mean kids in middle and high school are allowed to wear the "i <3 boobies" wristbands. since kids of that age are allowed to wear that, and kids of that age use the computer, why censor the username?

Guys, no reason to overreact here or claim that there's some conspiracy going on. Bottom line is that we try to keep the site work safe and family safe in all situations, which includes avatars, usernames, posts, signatures, and any other posted content (outside of The Garbage Bin).

*The secondary, but equally as important issue here is a logistical one brought up with this username. we are working on establishing a new rule that applies to usernames and requires them to be alphanumeric and can include a symbol but cannot be made up primarily of symbols*
We need to create a standard here to avoid other obscure usernames in the future so you're not responding to someone with a usename of $&^#&^#&^ or }{{|+.

This username might not offend you personally, but that's irrelevant. As moderators we need to look at the big picture and the long term of establishing and upholding rules that are applied to everyone fairly and consistently. The rule in question is keeping things work safe, and if there's anyone on the site who wouldn't be comfortable showing something to their boss or their wife/children then its just a better idea to not have it here. We draw the line there and whether you're a foot or a mile over the line, you're over the line and thats where we make the decision to step in and moderate.

The user's new username (or old one) isn't up for debate or a poll, and I am closing this thread since it should not have been created in the first place. If any users have further questions or feedback about the moderating policies we have then feel free to contact me or one of the other moderators and we will be happy to discuss things with you. Just keep in mind, we try to moderate as little as possible as not to disturb the natural flow of the community, but when the rules are found to be broken then we step in because that is our responsibility.

And one thing I forgot to mention... as Taylor said, if you ever see anything at all that you feel is inappropriate please report it! You can report any avatar, post, signature, PM, etc. by clicking the little red/white/black triangle next to a users post (or PM) and it will notify the moderating team so we can review it.
