Do any TST vendors do R12 recharges or R134A conversions? If not could someone recommend a shop? I can't wait for the R12 $$$$ butt raping.

Hey Spock my dad does that kind of stuff at night at a garage in bristol. I'll try to find a price out for you. I'm guessing you want to go from R12 to 134a on the Miata

or you could get a couple of cans of Freeze12 that replaces R12 now and do it yourself. Just a thought.

You can convert to R134a yourself, there are kits out there that allow you to do this. However, you have to make sure your compression is compatible with both systems.

Word of advice with Freeze12, make sure that all of the old R12 is out of the system, otherwise you can seize the compressor.

Not according to what I'm reading, as Freeze has oil in it making it compatible.

IIRC, it even says on the Freeze12 bottle to evac all the old R12. Freeze12 itself is compatible with the system, but it is not recommended to mix it with R12. I've seen a compressor seize due to mixing them.

spock i have a set of gauges you can use, but you will need to get adapters for your car.

there's a right and wrong way to do it. most people hook the gauges up and put the recovery hose into a bucket of water and let the coolant out of the low side..but the problem is you need to get someone with a vaccum pump

I had an A/C line break on my GTO, so everything came out of the system at some point during the winter. I took it to AA Cooling in Bristol on 13S. Completely dried the system (took several hours), replaced the lines, recharged. Worked damn good after they were finished. Overall I was happy with the job. I think their labor rate is the standard $90/hr. http://www.imcool.com/shops/aacooling.htm
