If you were able to choose your form of death, what would it be?
While trying to complete this mind-numbingly boring assignment, I stumbled across an interesting poem. It is entitled "If We Must Die" and is written by Claude McKay. It reads: If we must die, let it not be like hogs Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot, While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs, Making their mock at our accursed lot. If we must die, O let us nobly die, So that our precious blood may not be shed In vain; then even the monsters we defy Shall be constrained to honor us though dead! O kinsmen we must meet the common foe! Though far outnumbered let us show us brave, And for their thousand blows deal one deathblow! What though before us lies the open grave? Like men we'll face the murderous, cowardly pack, Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back! Instead of requiring us to write a detailed analysis of this work, our professor asked just to answer one simple question: "If you could choose your form of death, what would it be?" At this point in the semester, I am completely burnt out, and to be honest, a little bit resentful that I have to write a paper this large and not even have it count as my final exam. For these reasons, I decided to f*ck with him a little bit and will be submitting this as my answer: After reading the poem, I began to think about how I wanted to die. If I had a choice, the best way would have to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head just after my best friend and I finally ran out of ammunition because we just spent the last several days mowing down waves and waves of zombies with AK-47’s, Gatling guns, M-16’s, hand grenades and rocket launchers. We would each finish off our bottles of Patron and after shaking hands for the last time, do ourselves in just as the zombies broke through our defenses and burst into our hide out room. lol So I guess what I am asking here is if you guys had a choice as to how it would end, what would be your decision?

Everybody really dies of the same thing: their heart stops.
For the sake of playing along, spontaneous combustion. Definately not by zombie horde.

well if there I can offer a small amount of comfort on dying from trauma I'll share a cliffs notes version of my on deaths doorstep story
I was crushed and bleeding to death with multiple compound fractures in both legs after a drunk driver hit me, you are very calm when it's about that time to check out, I was freaking out trying to get out of what was left of the car when it first happend but towards what was going to be the end unless the medics hadn't saved my ass I was completely calm All the good senses were super heightend and all the bad ones went away, it didn't hurt anymore I wasn't thinking I'm going to die anymore. I just leaned back in the seat looking at the stars and it was the most amazing clear night sky I have ever seen, I was taking calm deep breaths and the air almost had a sweet smell, I knew I was dying and I knew I had done everything I could to get myself out of the car and it was up to the guys trying to save me so my body wasn't letting me focus on the bad. Going through that experience I have no reason to fear death no matter how it comes

Working in the deathcare and funeral industry has given me a similar position on death and dying. It's part of life, and hardly anything to fear. Although it sounds cliche, you've got to live it up day to day, and definately stop to smell those roses before you're only choice is to push up daisies.
