Point Breeze section of Philly **update: Plymouth Meeting**

Ok so I've been doing a lot of house hunting lately, and I've found one I really like down in the Point Breeze section of Philly (South of Washington, West of Broad). I know right now its not the most fantastic part of town, however, its supposedly in a revitalization stage. I was wondering if anyone here lives down in that area and how do you like it. The house I'm lookin at is on a great street, and is right across from a church. So anyone with any feedback on actually living there/spending time there?

EDIT: Ok so I decided against Point Breeze. It's just not worth the risk of the area not revitalizing like it's supposed to. So I found this place up in Plymouth Meeting that is pretty nice. So is anyone from up there? Its a little side street right off of E. Ridge Pike. The street is right across from John Kennedy Subaru. Opinions?

That neighborhood is not so great, a little sketchy, but if you could get a good deal on a home there I would just go for it. If you do decide to buy the house, stop by my shop one day!

Yea, I'm thinking long term. It's suppose to go the way of like Northern Liberties and Graduate Hospital. It got appointed some federal stimulus money to do new construction and stuff. Its a really nice house (completely renovated, everything is new) for a good price. So I figure get in while its still cheap and hope it takes off. Where is your shop? I'll definitley come by.

I live and grew up in South Philadelpha south of Synder Ave and west of Broad Street. That area is very sketchy in some parts and ok in others. If you want, PM and give me a cross street and i will be able to give you a better idea.

Dont forget its city living in case you never lived here before. Street parking can be a pain and the neighbors can make it nice or difficult to live there. Also check the city of Philadelphia Police department website. It gives a map of incidents. You can do a very indepth look at crime in the area you want to buy. Searching by just the zip code might not give you enough information.

Hatch - My grandparents have lived In Plymouth meeting for probably 50 years. It has changed a lot but they still like living there. Both my Aunts and Uncles live there as well and none of them have every had any problems. I also work on Main Street In Norristown which is right down the street from Plymouth Meetings. It's a good area from what I can tell. Lots of stuff going on. I would say there really is no bad part of Plymouth Meeting but in the main part of norristown is does get somewhat ghetto.

Hey thanks for the reply. It really doesn't seem like that bad of an area. Its right off of E. Ridge so its a little bit away from the main part of Norristown. Its mainly an investment. Its kind of set up as a duplex, so I'm going to buy it and only live there for a little while and then rent out the units.
