Headwork and some ?'s

Hello, i was wondering if you could help me with some questions i have. I am wondering what i will have to do to rev higher in my 2005 wrx sti. Plans are a Track series shortblock from raw performance (good for 8500rpms), FP green and supporting mods. MY questions have to do with the heads...what will i need? PnP? valvesprings and retainers? any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

depends on how much over your limiter you're talking but new increased spring rate/retainer set is suitable... other options depend on your set-up and power numbers you're looking for, since you seem to be going the go big or go home direction i would just opt for a built head off the shelf done by a reputable company that already did the runner/bowl work along with new valvetrain components

Well I was going to go big but now the goal is only for 400whp with a fp green and meth. So built heads shouldn't really be needed. I'd like to be able to rev to where I make power, no useless reving if there's no power. The car will be a road course track car acouple times a year and a daily (3000 miles/year). If reving higher would including having to get raws mTching heads I might stick to the 7k redline. Just wanted your guys opinion.

you would need

cams, springs and retainers, as well as a better oil pump. The issue is oiling at that RPM.. You can rev the stock 2.5 to 7200 easily. If you are doing cams, then might as well do springs You will easily hit 400whp with a green and meth, last STI we did with that combo hit 432whp.

You make me want to get cams lol I know power is made in the heads so it'd be a good idea just to do it when the motor is out. As far as the oil pump is concerned I was looking at the jdm 12mm oil pump. Would I need something larger such as the cosworth 15mm pump? Also could you give me a rough estimate of how much it would be to do this? You can PM me if you don't want the prices out in the open like that. When you guys install a motor do u tune it for break in or just install it and let it be? thanks again for the help.
