Did my car fix itself???

alright, somebody help me out real quick.

ok, car needed a battery (before it needed, i have a check engine light on anyway)...

1. monday, bought a new battery and installed it
2. of course after the drive cycle, the cel came back on
3. its thursday night. i had the cel on going to work... 8hrs later i leave, turn it on. cel on still on right? of course. now im driving home from work... it. went. off. no more cel... during the drive, and now it idles way better coming to a stop, before it would be rough, to the point it would almost turn off but it would rev up to 1500 rpms on its own and come back down, repeat.

wtf just happened? did my car fix itself? i don't get it.

i did add coolant, it was pretty low on that monday. i know i need a new o-ring on my turbo return line, but thats besides the point. i have no clue, i think something got spat out eventually. months ago i did some seafoam treatment. didn't drive the car for a while, and now im driving it again. while this is going on.

its wierd to me, ecu prolly reset saying nevermind or something. but it runs much better. i even did a load test from 5th gear from 40mph, turbo lagged a bit but caught grip and i was at 70mph pretty much how it would be like before all this idling issues. before it would lag and give in so late. powers back... wonder what the hell happened.

Cars don't fix themselves. Get your ass over to autozone and have them hook up their free obdII diagnostic and find out what the problem is.

Dump the code before you do $$$ of damage that could of been prevented for the cost of a $10 part.

Was it precipitating when it was acting up? I had a similar thing happen in my Supra. Granted I'm running standalone, but whenever it rained, my car would just not drive right. I only realized this during the few times I got caught out in the rain. I opened the hood and checked all the wiring. My cam position sensor was not even clipped on! It was just loosely connected and I'm guessing the moist air was doing something to the connection. Clipped it on, and no problems ever since. I'm saying that it could be a wiring issue...

It could be a small thing. My car was throwing codes because of a speedo sensor but then i reset the TCM and ECU and it was fine.Find out the code and go from there i'd say.

yea some codes will go off by themselves if its intermittent, one of my cars had an intermittent cam position sensor code and the light would go on and off as it pleased

I wouldnt do a thing. If the light comes back on I would suggest checking it but chances are if its off now its nothing serious and will come back if their is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

def get your ECU checked... just because it went away doesn't mean it's not there anymore.

could be early warning signs for something bigger.
