boaters/fishing thread

Its about that time of the year, and I just wanted to see if we have anyone on here who has a boat, or is into water sports or fishing, that type of deal. post pics of your boat, specs, good fishing spots, pics of your catch, or you on the water! hopefully my family will be getting a boat this summer and ill be posting some pics here and there!

+1! this thread was made for me. haha. loved fishing since I was a kid, used to go down to the crEEks near my house (darby creek and cobbs creek) with line and hooks. caught an eel in there one time.

nowadays most of my fishing is done at my folks vacation house down on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake in Maryland. We're right on the water, have a couple boats and a bunch of various watercraft. go fishing rite off the dock for catfish, white & yellow perch, occasional sunny. Take the boats out further into the bay to go after the stripers. Best thing we do is just drop our crab pots right off the dock and pull up a bushel full of crabs within 12 hours, in the peak of season. DIY Crab Fests r the way to go.

HIDE TIDE during one of the big Nor' Easters in the last couple years. Edit - I guess u can actually see the time stamp for exact verification. lol

(sorry, once i figure out how to re-size pics I will post some more)

Mmmm good eatin! I love fishing and I am currently working on a boat restore. It is a 87 Dynatrack 180ss. It is a slow build, but with a 150 hp on the back it will be nice to fish off of.

Before I had kids I spent summers, along with fall and spring weekends down on Long Beach Island, sailing, fishing, yachting, whatever on the bay. I've since sold my Laser sailboat and my grandfather sold his 26' Sea Ray, so I need to bum rides on the salt water.

Tomorrow we are putting my fathers dock in the water, along with the boat. My father has a 17' SmokerCraft, which isn't much but he loves it. He's debating on getting a patoon boat to please my mother ans something more sportier for the kids and grandkids. I'm looking to purchase a wakeboard this summer, and if possible a Hobie Cat to run around the lake we have a spot on. It's all fresh water, mostly carp, catfish, and some bass fishing-

I fly fish. Check out Spruce Creek in central PA. You'll have to do a bit of digging to find the public spots since most is privately owned but its some of the best fly fishing on the east coast.

Thanks, he was 45", 34 lbs, and very tasty. Caught him on a 1/4 oz jig with a 4" white finesse (and the other bass) while looking for Weakfish one August night along the jetties in AC. All hell broke loose that night when the resident bass woke up and were feeding on some kind of small bait, it looked like someone waqs throwing bowling balls into the water. It took me about 40 minutes to get it in on a freshwater set up I use for Pickerel and Bass with 10lb Fireline.

The fish on the bottom is a Bluefish. They are my favorite fish to catch hands down. Nothing beats getting into them on poppers, they will crash the lure as many times as it takes to get hooked. We got into them big time in Brick beach last fall, I watched a guy that was throwing a big pencil popper get 2 Bluefish that size on the same lure, it was a funny sight.

I cannot wait till the weather gets warmer down there, I'll be spending my weekends down there for sure. Love spending time on the water on the Eastern Shore.

yeah, Bluefish have retard-strength. lol.

Striper season is like August - October, if I'm not mistaken? Hopefully I won't need to take any stupid summer classes this year and will be able to get down and do some real fishing. aka. not just standing on the dock and casting for cats and perch.

haha LownSlow. If you've ever seen them swim, they look like torpedoes in the water.

When I'm at home I'll go down to river or to pennypack and trow a line in. but when I'm down @ the shore house its crabbing and fishing time on the docks or in a rent a wreck boat.
I even caught a flounder in a crab trap once last year. Man I can wait till gets warm out.

Stripers like water from 48 - 65 degrees, the water temp when I caught that fish was well over 70. They were resident Bass that I got really lucky running into when they were on a summer feed.

Sorry to bring up an older thread, but didn't want to make a new thread for something we have. I have always been interested in fishing, being a boy scout I grew up with it. I am looking to get into some serious fishing this summer, and figured that this thread might prove to be useful, in helping me find new spots, or some tips people have. This coming Friday I am going to drive to the Susquehanna River and see if I can catch anything from the shore. I am looking into getting a new rod soon, anyone have any good suggestions?

I thougr fly fishing was the only way to fish growing up. I grew up on a fly rod. My grandpa builds and refinishes rods, well he did. He's to busy out doing whatever.

I've fished some great spots. My grandparents live out west. I've
Fished all over washinginton and Idaho since I was a little kid. Fished all over PA as well. Spent the last few years tied up with other things but getting out hunting and fishing is a getaway for me now.
