Griots Garage Oil Filter Metallic Shaving/Particle Retainer?????

I would assume they are a good thing to have.

it seems almost the same idea as a magnatic oil drain plug.

It's exactly the same idea, just catches it in the filter instead. Which I like cuz you don't have to try and wash the plug off and junk, just dispose of the filter and your done.

lol.....i have some Harddrive magnets ON my oil filter, as well as about 4 of them on the bottom of my oil pan....you can never be 2 safe...lol

I think it's a waste of money. If there is something floating around that's big enough to do damage to your engine you're already screwed.

Every once in a while, to see if I had issues, I would just wrap panty hose around the pan under the car, and let the oil flow. Check for stuff that is stuck on top of the panty hose.

If something is small enough to get though your filter, then it isn't going to damage your car. How many people do you honestly know that change their fluids regularly and pop their motors. I don't know any. Its a joke.
