Canon EOS 7D

canon just release this today or yesterday.

imo nikon is slacking, Compaired to the d300s, which i believe is in the same category. I would say canon won.

and they are listed at around the same price for the body only: 7D $1,699 (estimated) & 300s $1,799

7D
18mp
8 fps
up to ISO 12800
Full 1080 HD Video (23,24 &25 fps)

i think i would have to agree. this is going to sell like wild fire if it holds up to everyones expectations. Hopefully they expanded the video capabilities and then will have a firmware upgrade to the 5d2er's

I was considering ditching my 5D for it, but I just can't go back to crop body.

Nikon stuff is always more expensive. The 7D definitely looks good on paper for a cropper, hopefully it holds up. If those 18 AF points all work it'll be solid.

But why are all the AF points clustered together in the center? On the D300 they're spread out over the whole sensor. And we'll see how noise is with 18mp on a crop sensor, but it might be just fine. Looks like a great field sports/birding camera for sure!

At first I thought it was an FX camera with 18 properly functioning AF points and 8 fps and got really pumped about it, haha. Why didn't they put this AF in the 5D2?
