Back-Hair Removal

This is completely serious, albeit a bit "off-topic" haha.

I'm really looking for all opinions, suggestions, and experiences related to my following situation:

I am, and always have been an extremely hairy Italian/Irish/German bastard (I had a full beard at age 15). I really don't mind the chest hair, facial hair, and arm/leg/ass hair... but what absolutely kills me is the patchy tufts of hair I have on my back.

Not only is it aestetically displeasing to the eyes of females (hence I rarely take my shirt off in the summer), but especially in the summer, I really feel like I am wearing a sweater underneath my t-shirt at all times. I feel like I am always like 5 degrees hotter, and thus more uncomfortable, than everyone else.

In my younger years, I used to painstakingly shave my back with a razor - I came up with various techniques to get this done - for the summer, and while not perfect, the results were good, both aestetically and in terms of keeping me cooler. Only thing is, the hair grows back and its just a pain to do it over and over and over again.

I am strongly considering going for either a waxing or full out for laser hair removal. A couple questions I have are:

1) How bad would it hurt to have my back waxed?
2) How quickly would the hair grow back after waxing? Would it last the whole summer?

3) Is laser hair removal painful or any other side effects (ie. not being able to lay on my back after the procedure)?
4) Once lasered, does the hair never grow back? Or how often do u need to do it?

Anyone have 1st hand knowledge or experience with this? Thanks

I wax my arms, eyebrows, and other parts and it does hurt, some parts worse than others. However, it's well worth it. Hair usually starts coming back about a month after a wax. Laser hair removal hurts too but it's permanant. I don't think theres any side effects and you need a few sessions to get hair completely gone and never coming back. But it's pricey.

I gotta read usernames before I read posts... I completely thought that this was a dude talking about waxing his arms and eyebrows, now it makes sense.

Sorry, I have no options for the sweater on your back, hell of an analogy by the way, had me LOL.

honestly, if i'm going to go thru pain, i'd rather have to not keep doing it over and over.. just don't want any weird scars on my back or anything.

How much $$$ are we talking about here? I have a friend who works for a laser hair removal place and he might be able to help me out a bit.

Italian/Irish/German here add polish too. I had a patch below my neck removed my "lazzzer". It's expensive and well worth it. Also it doesn't hurt unless your a vagina.

Average cost for 1 back hair removal treatment is $600-900.

But depending on how hairy you really are, it might be more. Grandfather is a dermatologist.

so..... approx 2700 bucks to get hair off my back???? I think i'll stick to shaving. lol. seriously, that is such a ripoff. No I know how my buddy's fiancee who is a nurse makes so much damn money assisting for laser hair removal.

so i'll basically have to take out a loan to not excessivly overheat and profusely sweat for the rest of the summer? thats cool... not.

how much is a wax? and got any recommendations where to get it down. I'm not a metro, I have no clue where to even go. :D

and since its not like my whole back is covered (its like 3-4 distinct patches...gross!) I don't think waxing would be that bad... plus I kinda like pain. or at least the feeling right after the pain - "OH thank F'ing God that is over! What a relief!"... hahaha

I'm in a very similar situation. I'm also a Italian/Irish/German mix..half Italian. The hair on my back also grows in patches(but large) and my shoulders are a bit hairy. Last May, before my wedding(Caribbean cruise) I decided since I would be shirtless for a almost 2 weeks, I waxed my back and shoulders. It wasn't like The 40 yr. Old Virgin...there was no wax and strips. My wife just applied the wax, let it dry for a few seconds, and ripped it off. Initially it "hurt", but after a while I kinda got used to it. It lasted the 2 weeks, but was starting to grow in by then. I got a quote for Laser Hair Removal and it was like $1500 for my entire back and shoulders.

I feel your pain.

Nope. And I have like 6 arm hairs cumulatively. And I can go for like 6 months without shaving my legs and you'd never be able to tell.

Probably like 60 bucks if it's not that much. Just google waxing in your area, something should come up.
