Suggestions? Rubber dashboard + white streaks

Hey Nick,

I was helping Michelle clean her car today and her dashboard was SUPER dusty. I use Meguires quick interior detailer with a microfiber cloth almost all the time, but this time it had a different result:

the cloth was brand new, and the only thing on the dash was dust. It seemed like when I pushed too hard, the streaks were left. I tried using window cleaner, armor-all, and water to get the streaks off but nothing worked.

The dashboard is basically a textured rubber, and really retarded lol.. any idea how we can get the streaks to go away?

thanks buddy.

Is it scratches or just streaks?

only difference is, these don't come off so easy haha

Was the dash hot when you did this?

I wouldn't irritate it too much to prevent damage. Does it come off at all when you attempt? This is a bit odd, my only thoughts is the dash being hot in the sun and product drying, if that was even the case.

^^^bad idea, chemicals thats in that stuff probably gona stink, possibly damage dashboard (depends what dressing you using)

get Poor Boys New Look which smells great or chemical guys V.R.T dressing. it will not create too much shine and should look like new. might even take care of streaking problem

whats your thoughts on that Nick?

you would need vynyl and rubber cleaner first possibly and then interior dressing(just please no armor all, they did get better over years but still not very good)
unless thats all you have

The smell of Poorboy's New Look > tire shine. You don't want the dash too shiny, cause when the sun hits it while driving, you will practically blind yourself on the windshield. 04AV6 6spd is right, you want a vinyl cleaner first, go to pep boys, find Lexol vinyl restore, it's a blue bottle (this is the best you can do as of now) Get the dash in the shade for a while (this is why i detail inside lol) use that and see what happens. Don't agitate it too much.

i dont think the rubber dash will ever get shiny. it's textured and just a matte black rubber. i think it'd look dumb shiny, just saying.

either way, Nick, should i still use a microfiber towel or just a regular rag? the microfiber one is what it happened with the first time...

You'll want to use the Microfiber, assuming a clean new one, the towel itself probably didn't cause the damage. The product, either its application, environment or the product itself is probably the issue here. I can't be of much more help on the internet in all honesty.
