Civic SI and Audi TT Strobetasktic shoot

Lame thread title I know

Wanted to try and see how good flashes are at night. Surprisingly they work well since this was the first time I ever tried using flashes on an auto before.

Photos are the greatest, was freezing out side. Couldn't feel my hands after a few minutes

Two flashes on stands with diffusers on them, no umbrellas since it was way to cold out to be dicking around with them.

Not bad, better then I could do with the flashes, but they do seem a little dark still.

What did you trigger the flashes with?

They are a tad dark, I just used straight flashes. They might of turned out better if i used umbrellas but it was just to cold. I used pocketwizards to trigger them, probably overkill for me but oh well, rather buy stuff once then having to keep buying the same stuff over and over again.

I think your camera's exposure would have more to do with how light/dark they are, not the light modifiers you use. But at the same time, the softness of light would be effected by modifiers so it could reduce the amt. of contrast.
Anyway, looks pretty solid for a first run... if you can incorporate a background next time to some degree I think that'd be a good step forward. You'll have to blend the flash with ambient to pull that off (exposure and color balance).

I'll have to try using strobes again, maybe some time when there is ambient light. Was mabye 7pm when I shot these.

I still don't understand how the shutter speed effects flash brightness and the aperture effects ambient light. Probably got that mixed up or wrong all together or something. I'll have to do some reading up soon.

That TT has a sick set of wheels. Does the owner of the Civic still go to Bucks CCC? I have never seen it.
